930 engine rebuild

Hi guys,
I am about to rebuild 930 turbo for piston problems... I have timed 964 engine earlier, but could not find much details about 930 turbo, 83 model.. can you help me with the timing specs for this amazing car ?
How much hard do you think that the timing is of this car than compare to 964..?

it depends on the cams you use.
they are easy.
I had to re-time one side and I did it with the motor in the car, the right side only of course.

ignition or cams? if ignition search for ultimate timing thread. you don't mention if you are using a distributor or something else.

Might be a good time to pick up Wayne's How to Rebuild your Engine Book

The cam timing process is no different to an SC. Straight foward - if a 911 cam timing can be called straight foward.

It really is straight forward once you understand what needs to be done. Timing the cams was one of the things that caused me to rest a bit uneasy as I entered into the rebuild of my 930's engine. Turned out to be not such a big deal. In fact, like the rest of a build, it's actually kinda fun.

This is an off the wall comment from someone who just installed a rebuilt engine and trans into his 930 and thoroughly enjoys it, but since you are at the decision point of investing a lot of cash into a rebuilt ... have you considered converting your car to EV? There are kits out there, EV West is just one example. In a few years the govt will start to figure out how to penalize ICE transportation forms, so considering an EV conversion may be worth considering, depending upon your longer term plans for the car.
