Supercharging What happened to that??
Hi, it's 3 Pedals again. 79 911sc. Stock 3.0 CIS with hydraulic cam tensioners. 100, 000+ miles on the car. I'll have to go through all of it, but for 'down the road ' I want to supercharge it. It's low compression and I think it would be the least expensive way to go for more HP.... with out stressing the bottom end and spending a pile of money to turbo charge it. This is a lower budget build, I just need more HP, but I'm not going to push it to the limit every time as I need this one for longevity and fun. Comments and constructive ideas are most welcome Pelicans.

If you wanted to do it, get something like this.
Paxton SN2000 Supercharger for 3.0 911 Engine Shouldn’t affect idle much and would increase power in a sort of linear fashion so it’s easy on the 915 transmission. It probably won’t generate much heat while cruising since it would not be compressing much there. This means you can get away with no intercooler. Should be a lot of fun and getting a complete or nearly complete kit is not easy for the air cooled engines.

l was looking at a company that produces kits for bmw's and others, VF engineering, turbine type blower, low boost levels vs what is capable from a roots or screw blower but still enough to give significant increase in efficiency vs trying to mod cylinder heads. I think the life expectancy of all of these units is the problem, not sure what that really is. Also supercharger put a little more stress on the bottom ends, they developing some boost at low RPM.

As an aside, I had a Paxton on a 66 Shelby GT350. Reliable old school unit. On the Mustang the carb was completely enclosed in an air tight box with the supercharger feeding it. Nice setup but obviously not for a flat six.
