Twin Turbo Oil Return sump tank
So I was trying to come up with a compromise between returning the oil to the engine sump and using the custom scavenge pump from Clewett Engineering that includes the cam sync sensor. I figured gravity to a common tank then connected to the sump pump to return the oil to the tank just like it did originally. See my concept bellow and please comment. I am looking for any opinions before I weld this thing up. The turbo's will drain into the top AN12 bungs on each side. The return bung, left side bottom, is an AN8 (recommended by Clewett). The bottom bung is a 14x1.5 for a drain plug. I figured I would mount it as low as I could safely do so, making certain that it does not get damaged if I go over something on the road. The material is 6061 aluminum, .125 thick.
I plan to make the drain on the turbo out of 304 stainless using 3/4" tube and AN12 fittings to allow free oil flow. ![]()

Done that on a dozen engines, works fine.
8AN is plenty large for journal bearing turbos, even for the return to the pump.

This is what I ended up making. Same concept as yours: two ports for the turbos to drain into and a third lower port for the pump to pull from. Even after this engine build (twice), I'm still new to fabrication, but it's functional and more importantly doesn't leak.

I intend to add a breather to mine as well. Just not sure what side of the tank yet until I start looking at everything else that may be in the way. I figured I would plumb it up into the engine bay like the original tank.
