Heater control cable location
I’m trying to figure out how the left side heater control lever is going to operate the cable when both cables are on the right side of the parking brake. I have new cables pn 911-424-701-01 with loops on the end so I’m not exactly sure how they’re supposed to connect to the levers. See pics as I have two different ways to attach. The car does have auto heat that isn’t operable and I don’t plan on repairing it, if that makes any difference.
One thought I have is to figure out a way to operate both cables with the right side lever, but I need a way to attach them to that lever. I’m considering attaching a bolt to the right side lever so I can loop the cables on but I’m not sure how secure that would be…maybe use fender washers to keep the cables from jumping off the bolt. Any ideas will be appreciated. For some reason I can’t attach pics. I’ll try to respond to the thread with them |

Doing some research I see that some hand brake assemblies have the two heater control levers positioned to the right of the hand brake, which would be correct for my car. However, my hand brake assembly has one lever on each side of the brake. I’m assuming someone put the wrong one on, so now I’m looking for the correct type of hand brake assembly. Seems hard to find so far

I believe that when the brake has one handle on each side, the left one operates a throttle position for cold starts.

Thanks, I was beginning to wonder if that's what it’s for.
Could it be that the hand throttle was disabled due to the fact that the car has a 3.3l engine? |

That's a good possibility, but on my 76 I only have one lever (right side) which operates both valves. There are 2 guide tubes at the rear of the tunnel where the shift coupler is. One guide tube on the right and one on the left. Both cables connect to the single lever and travel through their respective tubes to each valve. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that confirmation. Now I just need to find out how the cables connect to the lever since they come with that pre made loop

Do I simply loop the cable through the eyelet in the lever and leave it as that?

Correct, it just hooks on.
