TK rebuild

Howdy all - been awhile heh heh. It's fiiiiiiiinally back.

Oil starvation 9/29/19 threw 2 rods & spun a main - cried in mah Cheerios for 6mos while I determined a plan. Broomed my e92 ///M3 and landed a new gig with a company car (game changer!) which enabled me to ship it off to Chris @ Turbokraft.

His directive was to tend to it on back burner between jobs as funds allowed, and I'd not ask questions or get in the way. Nothing crazy, no EFI, no overbore - just a sympathetic yet fully optimized rebuild.

Most importantly???... ***FULL PAULECTOMY / PAULOTOMY*** Finally ridded every ounce of my patented Fecal Touch!!!

general build details:

- twinplug Electromotive crankfire (thanks SHANNON!!!)
- TDR6162 billet 61mm compressor .82a/r T32 turbine divided scroll journal bearing (GT35ish replica)
- TK aluminum injector blocks (thanks ADAM!)
- film coated pistons top / bottom
- ARP fasteners / balanced rods
- titanium valve retainers
- new 2nd 044 fuel pump
- rebuilt injectors & Flowtech ported fuel head
- RPM enrichment delay solenoid
- Ruf CTR clutch & aluminum pressure plate (thanks BRAD!!!)
- fully custom header divided wastegate signal lines
- reground my SC cams
- 965 coupler @ IC to Tbody
- new starter / battery
- initial dyno ~400/400atw
- oh, and... FLAMES

Car landed here back in September, wanted to ensure all's swell before posting. I broke it in locally for a few hundred miles, dropped the oil then bombed on down to join Brad for Charles Stanley's Targa Carolina (my 2nd of his events, Blue Ridge Ruckus also w/ Brad - and Tater - previously... those are MUST DO EVENTS FYI / FWIW / BTW). Fittingly, I arrived there on 9/30... and also quite ironically... 3yrs to the DAY that I blew it up. Poetic.

Trip tallied about 2200mi, including Blue Ridge Parkway, hitting VIR event enroute home and managed some hotlaps w/ an F40, and Skyline drive @ full moon sunset (NOT recommended doing alone in the dark - d'oh / lol!).

The car has *never* (EVER!!!) run / idled / shifted / WOT'd / smelled / sounded / driven this goooooooooood. I couldn't be more giddy - it's all of what these cars should be and I've always wanted it to be. It. Is. Just. SOOOO. GOOOD. Been about 3k since rebuild now, and the motor is loosening up quite nicely and just getting faster and happier with each mile.

Literally *WEAPONIZED* to drive, it's ballistic bombastic outlandish outrageous unabashed _F_U_N_:

I cannnnnnnnot overstate my gratitude and appreciation for all that Chris Carroll and his team at Turbokraft have done for me - I am beyond thankful for the opportunity to work with them. They are amazing to work with and their work speaks for itself. I am extremely fortunate for that experiencenand I will never (ever) forget Chris' genuine professionalism.

Happy to be back here with you all, alive and kickin once again. Now to try to throw the defibulators on this place and wake it the F UP... been a snorefest here for too long - time to wake up the Old Guard and return this place to the glory of past years and the INCREDULOUS FUN we used to have here on the daily. And back to plannin more turboPALOOZA's!!!

Capice?

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally fixed my sunroof (welded cable), door pocket, and installed my dead pedal that's been on shelf for eons (game changer - shoulda done this sooner!). Impatiently tapping fingers here awaiting spring and driving season to return here in sunny CT.

Took it out for a 50mi loop last week and was instantly reminded of how the fukk AMAZING these cars can be when setup correctly, and how good a car / performer it is. It blows my mind honestly how good it is - I've driven probably dozens of 930s at this point and none have been THIS GOOD. Carrera 3.2 behind me @ Targa Carolina exclamated how my car rev'd like a sportbike heh heh. Roassssts the 295 rear Pilot Super Sports off @boost hit without hesitation...

Kudos and THANK YOU once again, Chris & Team Turbokraft...

It sounds like you are somewhat happy that you kept it! Intercooler pic - carrying enough spare oil? LOL.

Isn't it all about knowing that if needed, you can beg for access to a great shop/mechanic.

Enjoy!!

Dude you should seriously write for whatever car magazines are left out there.

Chris Carroll, thank you for helping keep this guy in the P-car world. You’re a rockstar on multiple levels. Glad you’re out there!!!

Congrats If that runs half as good as it looks it must be amazing. I see your not taking any chances with the oil issue again but maybe better to keep it in the frunk than on top of the IC.

Hey Paul!! It's good to hear that your rebuild engine is running better than ever before! So you have been hiding running up the miles on your 930 while making sure there's no snafu/problems. I'm really glad all is well and now that you are tempting us with idea of future turbopalooza! BTW...your car looks great.

Thanks! Yes, on my 15th year with it now - feels great to still have it certainly. Heh, oil... I run an FMOC so 12qts is my baseline oil change. Amen about that shop access - tho I'm fortunate to have at least 3 amazing other local options if need be as well.

Bwhahahaa Kenster - that Batsignal pissing is hilarity. Damn straight sir, you know it - it's... TIME.

No joke on Chris being a rockstar, and his amazingness for keepin me here amongst youz all!

Heh, car mag writing... thanks fer the thought! Bout a decade ago I gave that an earnst whirl. Proved not to be worth the effort unfort and never was able to leverage it into the 'next level' that I realllllly longed for at the time. Ah well - was a fun ride for awhile. Here's my Excellence bit from the time (my 3 from European Car Mag seem to be lost to netdom w/ it's 2018 demise unfort):

Thanks Mike! Heh, YES... it DOES run about triple as good as it looks!! Giddeup. Couldn't resist the oil line up pic, it does make a convenient staging shelf.

Thanks Steve! Dude, that comment is ohso most certainly TESTAMENT to Chris' talent / build. That took colossal stones / massive dumbassitude to do, but I'm overqualified in the latter sooooooo. Car just keeps on gettin better and better w/ each and every mile & smile. Fukkyeah.

MikeD!!!! How are you mah friend? Great to hear from you. Heh, yeah - I wanted to ensure all was swell with more than just in mah pants before goin public. You KNOW there's future turboPALOOZA's in store. Rumor has NH could be forthcoming, with a DE @ Club Motorsports thrown into the mix. Stay tooooned heh heh. Thanks for the thoughts on my car, appreciate that sir!

Hi Paul - hard to believe three years have passed since that sad day but great to hear it's all worked out really well! When the time comes I'll also have TK set mine up for the next 40 years..

Is that an E63 wagon sharing space with the 930?

Great to hear success stories like that.
Now don't go breaking it. It wasn't called the Widowmaker for nothing. That stuff wasn't made up.
Kudos to TK. Again.

PK, congrats man! Glad to hear you're back "onboost" and the car is generating proper wood!

Kudos to you for getting it to the right hospital for surgery. Sounds like Dr. Carroll and his surgical team have you hitt'n on all 6-plus! As the book says "Excellence Was Expected" ...and no doubt delivered!
