1979 930 Rough Idle "dieseling" and dies
Completely original, CIS, etc.
I was hoping that you guys could give me a good place to start... I have attached a link to my Youtube where you can hear it idling. I have replaced the two gaskets in the air recirculating body at the piston as I thought I had a vacuum leak. The overboost sender has been bypassed for testing...no change. When attempting to idle it is very rich... I have read through the "my car won't start" sticky which is quite the daunting list. If anyone has any ideas based on how it sounds it would be great...or should I just work the list in no particular order? https://youtube.com/shorts/W9cEqV8W_uA? ![]() |

Sounds like it's running too rich. Turn back adjustment screw, and or advance distributor to get a hotter spark.

From the audio I would give it some air at the throttle body and get the rpms up to 900-1000 and let it warm up. Have you tested your cold and warm control pressure, if not get a set of gauges and do some testing.

If you can get your hands on a pair of fuel relays, I would start there. Cheap and easy to do.
