76 Turbo Window Frame Color, Black or Bright-dip?

Hi all, I am currently in the market for a Turbo Carrera or a 930. I am evaluating a 76 Turbo Carrera and curious about correct window frame coloring.

This particular car has black frames, but it seems most of these cars have bright-dipped anodize coloring. I have seen cars with both, but not sure which is correct and if there is a cut-off date or something.

Anyone know if back would have been available and correct for a 1976 TC?

1976 would of had Black Anodized window frames. They typically fad to a purple color and then even lighter with time and exposure to sunlight. I have seen them repainted black as well. I believe the black anodized window frames were used up until 1979 possibly into some 1980 models, unless the change over occurred in 1982 when the 3.2 carrera and european / ROW turbos came out. After that they were black painted, from everything I've seen over the years.

The chrome ones on long hood cars are plated brass up to 1967, except 1968, I m pretty sure is aluminum with the wind wing. Then plated aluminum from 1969-1973, with no windwing. The 1974-1977 regular 911, I m not as familiar with on the details of their window coatings, but pretty sure they were black anodized, which fades with time. Their maybe some with Chrome, depending on the trim like Targa models, to match the brushed stainless steel roll bar.

Their maybe some others with insight here as well.

Also to note the 1976-1977 turbo's may of had pop out rear quarter windows. I think it ended in 1977, but others may chime in when exactly. It's possible to retro fit earlier pop out windows into the later turbos.

76 912E has polished aluminum and pop out windows. Probably the same for the 911.

Asking because all 74-77 911 were bright-dipped anodize (shiny) except for the Carreras which were black anodize. My confusion comes with the TC, as they are technically a “Carrera”, so maybe black, but I have seen numerous TC and 930 with what are clearly factory bright-dipped frames.

Thus, I was wondering if the black anodize on the TC was an option, or why some cars are bright-dipped and some are black? If it were an older Ferrari there would be virtually no rhyme or reason behind why something was done differently. Monday morning after espresso vs. Friday after lunch and two glasses of wine was all the reason they needed.

The Germans did not operate that way.

76 Turbo Window Frame Color, Black or Bright-dip?

Black is correct; fades to violet, then washes out to dull silver
