I own a 2001 911 Turbo. The car has a Softronics Tune. It is super fast, but I've decided to sell it and get a 718 Cayman. I found someone in California that is willing to swap my 2001 Turbo with his 2017 Cayman. Good deal for both of us.
He's afraid that my car - with the Softronics flash will not pass emissions testing. He has asked me to detune the car - returning it to stock. It's been years and years since I first flashed the car. I'm not sure where the cable and stock file are, and I would like to tell him not to worry. Does anyone have experience with a Softronics Tune being used in California, and did they have any issues passing emissions tests? Looking for a quick and personally experienced answer. TIA for your help. Larry |

This is probably not the right place to ask as we are mostly air cooled here, however I did have a 996tt in the past. In california they will check the ecu file and if it is not factory it will be an automatic fail. So no it will not pass with any sort of tune.

My 2003 996TT passes CA smog check with a Cobb tune. No problems at all.

Cobb offers some carb approved tunes, so they will pass. His softronic tune is almost certainly not on the CARB approved list.
