I need the brain trust

SO turbocharging a 3 liter and what does the brain trust think about pumping the turbo scavenge oil to the vent housing on top of the motor

I do that on my 930 engine. It works fine. The oil just drains into the bottom of the case, where it is picked up by the scavenge side of the oil pump. I have a picture of my setup I believe... I will try to find it, and post in a little while

I made a h2O cooler for my turbo to cool the CHRA, utilizing a kx-85 radiator, vw 1.8T after run circulation pump, and some AN line/fittings. That, along with cooling down after a hard run, and running the pump for 10 minutes post shut-off, and changing to DT-50 oil every 3000 miles, I have had zero issues.. and I drive my car a TON!! Still trying to find a few pics...

Can you post links to the details on your water cooling? It sounds like that would be the ticket with a timer on the pump

I have a Garret turbo with ports for water cooling already. Do you use a turbo timer?

Turbo oil return to breather cover

Gsmith660, I updated a post I made a few years ago with my setup... It should be at the top of this forum now. Take a look, I think it is what you are looking for ;)

As far as the oil return to the engine breather, here are a few pictures that I took the last time I had my engine out, and a few of when I was putting the drain line together. The factory actually is a screwed up design!!! As they return the hot, used, UNFILTERED oil right back into the oil tank! The way that I have it now ( draining back to the case) will have the turbo return oil, drain into the case via the breather cover. Then, it gets picked up by the engine scavenge pump, and put thru the oil coolers, AND the oil filter, before heading back to the tank. So, I feel that this is superior to the way Porsche had it from the factory. Here are a few pictures. I hope this helps ;);)

And this was taken a few years back, before I changed a lot up and went CoP, etc...

On my turbo’ed 3.0 I did this using a factory scavenge pump. I did put an earls inline filter inbetween the turbo and scavenge just incase, but the screen has always been clear (well the one time it’s had an oil change since turbo’ing).

I ran one of these off the pressure side of the return pump. I did fine little treasures now and then.

90’s BMW TPS work on the 3.2 TB shaft. Just need to make an adapter to mate it to the TB
