Still looks great! I guess your happy with the transition from West Texas to Florida.
39 years ago I couldn't imagine owning a Porsche.

Bucket list both my wife and I lost our parents in less than 2 years. Tired of the incessant winds, cold winters and nearest beach over 600 miles away. Great memories of Texas just love SWFL.

Awesome pictures! How did the story begin? Did you find the car at a dealer?

I’d made the promise to myself that when I turned 30 I’d have either a new 944, a used 928, or the ultimate a 930. At the time Porsche hadn’t imported them since 79. They were rare birds even well used. Or I should say they were all over 30k. That year the government allowed a 1 time exemption to bring them in without having to federalize them. So they started popping up for under 25k. Living in Texas I took the Dallas paper that sometimes had them. I see an add 76 Euro 56,000 miles perfect condition. The guy that imported it was basically flipping it at of all places a 914 speed shop. I had a friend who was a car guy go check it out. He said it was perfect. So we flew down to Dallas rented a car from Lov field and were at the shop before noon.
The speedo was a 150 so not correct for a Euro and they’d swapped the seats for non leather. I had them replace the seats with the originals, recharge the AC and off we went on a thousand mile trip to visit friends, show it off and give joy rides. 39 years later 4 engine upgrades, rebuilds, still a thrill to drive. Puts out 450hp and weighs 2600lbs. ![]()
