short 930 trans mount to fit g body na car
I've lost some knowledge on this subject. What is needed to mount the short 930 box to the NA G-body car?
I've gone through this before but it's been a while and I can't forget. Seems a 915 mount needs cut and moved? Is there someone that makes a nice one? Mine is cracked and I want a nice version. Thanks.

From my file not sure who originally posted this:
915 to 930 Transmission Conversion Notes. (Used in this example: 1980 SC, 1987 930 Transmission, w/ shortened bellhousing) 1. None of the 915 clutch components will work on the 930. a. Throw-out lever, shaft, clutch cable support (not needed) clutch bracket or Helper Spring (Omega) from the 915 will not work. (see thread) 2. Bellhousing thickness: a. If someone shortened a suitable 930 transmission for you, make sure the distance from the face of the starter to the face of the bellhousing is ~93mm and it has a register intact around the inside edge of the bellhousing. This ensures the mounting studs are centered in the bellhousing holes and not ‘hanging’ on the studs themselves. 3. Clutch, Pressure Plate, Flywheel and Starter Ring: a. I used new parts from a 3.3l 930 engine. The spline on the 930 mainshaft is different from the 915. The clutch shouldn’t work but I heard some have done it? Be sure to get the correct starter ring with the relief holes for the PP. Thanks for making two types, Porsche! Of course I got the wrong one first time around... 4. Transmission crossmember mount: a. The 915 mount can be used with minor modification. (Some have modified the 930 mount) I ended up cutting a ‘window’ in the mount to allow part of the transmission to clear and welded on a spacer approximately 8-9mm thick and attached in the stock location. (see thread) 5. Transmission housing clearance issues: a. On the left side (oil cooler side) of the bellhousing when attaching to the engine, you may need to trim a bit of the bellhousing edge to clear. (see thread) b. When mounting to the car, you may find interference with the banana mount on the passenger side. You'll need to trim a little away to make it clear. The tell-tale sign is you can't line the engine mounts up (easily) correctly. (see thread) 6. Transmission mounting studs: a. To attach the transmission to the engine, you may need longer studs installed. Note that Porsche measures their studs by not including the ~15mm that is screwed into the engine case. i.e. if they say the stud is 115mm, it’s actually 130mm. Places like Grainger or regular hardware stores will measure total stud length. Keep that in mind when ordering. I used steel studs from Grainger. 7. Reusable items from your SC: a. Starter b. Speedometer hall-sensor c. Gear selector shaft (The one in the tunnel) d. Clutch cable (increase the length at the pedal side) e. Reverse light switch (on transmission) f. Throttle cable bell-crank (driver-side attached to the transmission), g. 915 shifter should work as is, but I bought the WEVO 930 upgrade which I highly recommend. 8. Axle parts: (Some notes borrowed from other threads) My 930 transmission came with the SC/915 100mm flanges already installed, so I was able to easily re-use my existing axles without issue. The 930 is fine spline so you could use the 100mm SC, 108 930 or the 3.2 stub. The axles from (1986-89) 911 Carrera G50 Transaxle are the proper option for strength. These feature the integral stub axle end replacing your smaller 911SC 100mm axle hub flange. The 930 axles are a no-go to the SC unless you have the matching larger flanges on the trailing arms. 9. (Tarret) Swaybars: a. Needed a small ~5mm spacer under the base mount to help clear the transmission/mount. The stock ones will probably need the same treatment.

What 'file' is this Steve? Are you guys copy/pasting Pelican posts from years past into separate documentation as you deem appropriate? Such incredible information here and always amazing how people have all this info kept somewhere.

A few months after I purchased my car I found this forum. When I found myself hunting for information that I had seen in the past but could no longer find I started saving every link, chart or DIY project into a file. In the 10 years of hanging around here I have found the help that I needed many times and the file gives me something to post to return the favor.

Go here, Brandon. There's some pic details on how I had to modify the 915 mount. Pretty easy for the most part. https://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/1050830-915-930-transmission.html
