another new 77 930 owners post

Hello All,
longer time lurking member first time posting.
as the title indicates I'm a new owner of a 77 930 that has been sitting for about 10 years.. good news car is a numbers matching car that came with original tail for the 77 930.

bad news...yes you guess it! I have some issue to sort out.
lots of previous owner/s tampering and mods to sort out and undo.

i have started on some of the cosmetic stuff already.

biggest hurdle has been the aftermath of the rusted fuel tank fouling up only the front pump ( I'm hoping).

tried to post pictures but im having trouble.
stay tuned

been through a similar issue with my 76 row turbo motor that sat for 17 years .. i ended up replacing or rebuilding everything that had to do with fuel. The tunnel lines and tank included. since i was starting from scratch i rebuilt close to stock built for reliability not HP. i replaced everything with an-6 fuel lines cheaper option also allowed to add gauges and sensors any place in the system for easier fine tuning . but my value was already gone its a 76 row turbo in a wide body sc .I finally just got it dialed in, fun car love the 3.0l short stroke turbo.

I'm experiencing the same challenges presently. Mine sat for 13 years. Are you going to utilize the original tank or get a replacement?

It is nice to keep it original, but I would get a new tank.

I changed the tank so I could get the car running and work out some other issues.

I will hold onto the original tank hoping to find a shop that can check it and clean it properly.

now I am dealing with a hard start ( long cranking time ) issue the car did not have before the contamination event.

I recently had a hard start issue in my '79 930 that came out of nowhere. First start of the day was fine but after warmup the issue would start. Mechanic just traced it to stuck fuel pressure regulator valve. Very small piece of something got in there. Might be worth a look.

thank you !
this might be the case for me also. my system pressure has dropped from 6.5 prior to the plug up then down to 6.1 and now to 5.5.

I'm sending my fuel distro out to get cleaned and refurbished.
I've changed the accumulator also.

good new my injectors are ok.

You're welcome, probably not a bad idea to touch all of the components as you are doing.

Pacific Oil Cooler Service Inc.

They'll clean and pressure test, can repair if necessary.

If I buy a used cooler, I just get the seller to ship directly to them...

They're FAA rated and that's their primary business - but they get enough 911 stuff that they can identify factory parts sitting in a box in the receiving dock before it's booked in...

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback.

now that the car is running ( sorta) I am chasing down a stutter problem I'm having as the boost kicks in. approx. 0.4 bar and the problems start.

searching the forums has given me some direction. saga continues for me
