Manual Brake Light Switch
I found this mod in the 911 forum and thought it was worth while. I noticed how hard I have to push the brake pedal for the lights to come on. Since it is a pressure activated system the brake lights don't come on under light braking. Adding a manual brake light switch allows you to adjust the brake lights to activate under light pedal pressure. I have included a few links to read if interested.
Safer stop lights Carerra / SC mechanical brake light switch install. SC mechanical brake light switch project I made one additional change to mine because I have heavy custom carpet in the frunk and included a guard to protect the switch. I used the Hyundai switch because the wires connect to the side. ![]() I also added led light panels to my brake lights from spoke here on the forum and a 3rd brake light in the rear window.

The (80s) Porsche brake system turns on the brake lights by sensing brake fluid pressure in the master cylinder utilizing two pressure switches. Some (most) of these cars are a little slow to activate the brake lights. I found this mod after a large 4x4 truck came a little too close in slow traffic and made me wonder if he could see my (tiny) brake lights. Now the brake lights come on with the slightest movement of the pedal because the manual switch senses movement in the mechanical linkage. Since this switch is spliced into one of the pressure switches the factory system will still work normally if the manual switch should fail.
I also added a 3rd brake light and led brake lights.

What specific brake light switch did you use? I tried to do this modification but the switch I got (a hyundia switch) was "push to be on" and I didn't see how that would work.
Thanks, Rich

I have only seen switches that activate when the button pops out. I was confused at first until I learned that the linkage pulls back when the brake is applied allowing the button to pop out.

Paul,
Ha ha ha, no doubt. You'll be happy to hear I did replace the old pressure switches already. I can't make any promises on the rich running conditions yet. I'm certain there will be some tuning and adjusting that needs attention. It's been a LONG 14-month dry spell. I hope I can make the May event.

I don't like women with a pull start. I like more of a button push/tickle start.

What we're seeing here, from IcyHotStuff and JuggleNutzJeff, is unabashed jealousy over my super sexy, psychotic sexiness!
And Deez, those two guyz(???) fit your "non pull start" requirement perfectly! ![]() |

OK, after washing out my eyes with acetone to get the images Rawknees posted out of my head (it didn't work), I thought about how to do this brake switch mod. I think I came up with a simple way to put the switch in without any drilling into the master cylinder assy and ordered that same switch. Explaining will never work, so I will work on this and post up what I end up with, good or bad.
Once my eyes heal, that is. ![]()

I thought about not drilling the bracket. There is even a thread where someone wedges a rubber bushing in the hole to hold the switch. I tried this first but it didn't work for me. I'm lucky since my car is not original I can do whatever I want. ![]() ![]()

Don't let Jeff fool you, Steve - he printed 25 copies of that pic (ten of which he put in his 930)!

I did something similar because of the same very reason. Here is the switch I used, I have no booster and dual masters. That is why I used this switch.
