My 1978 Porsche 930 Restoration – Matching Numbers, Fully Documented
Hi everyone,
After years of gradual work, I’m excited to share the restoration of my 1978 Porsche 930 — a matching numbers car, originally Brown Metallic from factory. The car was fully stripped to bare metal and rebuilt from the ground up. Every system has been inspected, restored, or replaced: K-Jetronic fuel system, turbo components, engine hardware, A/C system, electricals, and a ton of detail work like zinc plating, vacuum routing, and period-correct finishes. I’ve been a Pelican member since 2019, and this community has been an essential part of the journey. That’s why I wanted to share the build here before it goes to auction. I’ve created a dedicated website to document the full process with over 200 photos and notes, and I’m still uploading new images every day as we’re entering the final weeks of the restoration. https://project9301978.com The project is still ongoing, so if you notice any imperfections or details, I’m open to suggestions — everything will be sorted out by the end. My plan is to list the car on an auction platform in the next couple of months once it’s fully dialed in. Thanks again to this forum and everyone who’s contributed knowledge and inspiration over the years. I’ll keep this thread updated with more photos and progress. including a few sample images here in the post for a quick preview! – Hedward ![]() ![]() ![]() |
