Odd Holes in the Ductwork of early 930 Wing

We are trying to figure out what these holes were for in this early 930 wing.

Also need the correct grills and thinking this front dp and the wing will look good on a future project.

Additional cooling seems like an obvious thing to want.

Maybe they had a grill over that rectangular opening on top?

That's my guess as well - clearance for whatever custom bits were on a motor that had to fit under it.
