Oil&fuel

78 930
I’m at was rebuilt 9 or so years ago never really ran it long distances May be 2000 miles on new motor
Was running good for a while
Now I have oil drops out of the waste gate and fuel drops several of them from the center of the exhaust

Also prior to this it would smoke a LOT at start for 10 plus minutes before smoke would clear out
Any words of advice where to look to start

Greatly appreciate it

At 2,000 miles, your engine is barely broke in. I suspect very rich fueling. I’d start with checking your fuel pressures… system pressure, cold and warm. Post what you find and we can go from there.

Are you sure it’s oil out of the waste gate or is it gas mixed with carbon from the exhaust that looks black and oily?

Sounds like unburnt fuel is making to the exhaust which means
1) lack of spark/ignition
2) or more likely, excess fuel being dumped in to the cylinders. Start with fuel pressures. Was the Fuel Distributor also rebuilt at the time the engine was? If not it might be time

has it been sitting for a while since the last ride before this issue??? sounds like something is gummed up and dumping fuel as firstdolast mentioned. is it running if so good or bad ? could just need a spirited run with fresh fuel as for the smoke a for 10 minutes after start . i always thought that was a turbo seal issue or rings possibly they forgot to install the ball check in the turbo oil line? . my 76 had the quick 10 second smoke at start from oil equalization . but i did find out my gauge is off from my oil tank dipstick full dipstick is barley reading on my oil gauge . once i figured that out 90 percent of my cold start smoke went away. and half way between full and add on the dipstick is the sweet spot no cold start smoking.

If you have had the car for a while you are familiar with problems with smoke caused by overfilling the oil tank. Is this CIS? then you must have a set of gauges to check fuel pressures? Do you have an air fuel gauge? Fuel pressure gauge installed on the car?
Did they replace the turbo when the engine was rebuilt? Any history on the fuel distributor or the Wur?
Give us more information and someone can help.
