There still are a couple good buys in the market place today. You have to do a budget first.
Keep us posted.

i'm pretty sure mb911 here on the forum is making one or else has one to offer.... for alot less then you'll find elsewhere..
he is the owner of M&K mufflers, which are very popular for their light weight, extremely robust and quality craftmanship...along with good prices. (i'm running one) u should send him a pm before throwing money at the big dogs which don't really seem interested in the "older" series... cheers Nick

not in the sense you're talking about
Ben can set you up with a package for waaaayyyy less than proto. there are some good threads around if you look for them. Ben's kit is well worth it IMHO. here's my install thread M&K carrera turbo install |

John,
I'm biased with a Protomotive rig, BUT .... I too had a Carrera (87) and was considering "dropping in" a trubo, or swapping to a turbo motor (3.0 liter), for more power. Obviously, once you have more power, you need more brakes, a better suspension to handle the power, wider wheels/tires/etc .... I started looking at 930's instead. I always loved the wider rear ends anyways. I just mention this because it's easy to invest $ in something cool now, and it's important to look down the road at what you really want/need it for later. Just my $.02 Good luck! Glenn |

Bolt-on is a state of mind, which does not exist in the real world. Turbo valve covers are bolt-on. Turbocharger is not.

Well, what I concider Bolt-On is some thing that I don't have to cut, welder, splice, grind and bend together. Simply using bolts to hold everything together.

you still have to drill a hole in the cover and cut the rear engine sheet metal

Hi mb911,
Can you re-link your post. It didn't seemed to link to your specific post.. It took me to the turbo charging thread. Thanks |

It is "sorta" bolt on-you'll need to cut the engine tin, maybe some of the body supports, remove the exhaust from the cat on, run vaccum lines, change out the fpr (no fun) and likely have some lines made, etc.
Its not a big deal, but it took me around 30 hrs, with access to a lift, airtools etc.

Hi Ben,
What turbo is that? What's the name and model #? And where did you get it? Thanks John |

I'm doing the "sorta-bolt-on". Ben and I are doing a custom one-off with my 3.2L that is going 3.4. All of the plumbing will be fabbed by Ben to work in my application and all of the motor work is being done up by Chris Streit at Motodelta.
We're are aiming for having our cake and eating it too...high-horsepower with streetability. I'm still finishing up my suspension but I'll be sure to post

Hi Jerry,
What turbo are you using? The reason I ask is that I am concidering using Ben's setup as well. I have to do some homework on the trubochargers, but, if you guys are using a particular turbo, then so will I. If it works for you guy then it'll work for me. John Make and model# for the turbo pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease =) |

I'll be sure to post pics once the fun stuff begins...I have all of the parts for the build, but right now am I finishing up the obsessive compulsive cleaning and PORing of the underbody, trunk area and engine compartment.
