Cheap, not that I'm aware of. MSD produces what's called a BTM or Boost Timing Master ignition module that can retart timing up to 15 degrees in 1-3 degree-per-psi increments but it may need to be modified to work with a dizzy. It is an ignition module in itself(amplifier) and works well with single coil ignitions but I've never personally put one to use on a porsche engine. I did have one equipped on a different turbocharged vehicle I owned in the past and it worked very well.
Regards,

I am running a MSD BTM on my turbo 3.12 engine it receives the boost pressure from a vacuum line running off of the throttle body, works very well. I have twin plug and have both Blaster coils running pigtailed from the MSD per Henry at Supertec's recomendation. There are some that disagree with this setup but Supertech's never had a problem with it.

You don't necessarily have to retard your timing on boost. The early 930s did not have a timing retard function, full advance was set at 28*. Your timing curve will depend on how much boost you run, what your C/R is, fuel octane, and single vs twin plug.
I assume you have standard low C/R 2.7L with single plug and pump gas with maybe 0.5bar boost. Should not need to retard on boost, just tune it well.

The only thing I've ever heard about using the BTM with dual coils is overloading the driver circuit if the impedence of both coils is too much for it. If Henry says it works and it is in fact working for you then that's good news because I could really use it for a future 3.6 project.
Which Blaster coils are you running(part numbers) and could you possibly run a primary/secondary ohm reading on the coils for me? It would help me out alot in setting up something like thi in the near future ![]()

Here's another cheater short cut for single MSD & twin plugged applications. Go to your local high performance motorcycle shop and purchase an aftermarket coil for just about any in-line four super bike. They use twin-lead coils fired by a single signal input.

And if someone wants to try the above avenue of "twin pluggin", go with Compufire as they just produced a low ohm dual fire coil that works great with DIS ignition modules.

How much is a 930 USA distributer compared to these electronic options? I realize it won't provide adjustability, but it's bolt in and will give you boost retard.

You might be able to pick up an old Electromotive setup, like the TEC-1, and use just the ignition side of it (not the fuel side). I did that on a previous iteration of my 930 and got twin ignition and a fully programmable timing "curve" that used a MAP sensor for boost retard. A complete setup can probably be had for less than $1K.

Will the Electromotive XDi ignition system work? It's about $1175 for single plug version.

holy smokes batman I mean cheap, cheaper ,cheapest, and lots less then that ....some one some where has got to have an old 930 dizzy under their bench taking up way to much space.......................If I throw a grand at it for a stand alone I might as well throw two more and get it over with and have injection too!!

930 distributors "generally" go for $200-$300 depending on year and condition. If you do a search you will see a few have sold here on the board.

I guess I am whacked ?? If I were taking this proj serious I would go with a complete stand alone sys. In my brain I see these dizzy(s) as "antiques" and who could want one ? cept for me of course in my blow it to Shynoah configuration...............
