Is this a K27 Turbocharger?
I'm looking at picking up a K27. This guy told me he isn't positive it is a K27 but was told by a Porsche mechanic that it is a K27. If it is I'll probably buy it.
Can you tell by these pics if it's a K27 or not? ![]() ![]() ![]() The one on the left: ![]() EDIT: After looking at some other K27 pics. It doesn't look like it to me, but I'm no expert....

See that blue tag? It has your answer. Most likely K26-3DLZ

Wrong one. The one on the left with no blue tag. The one with the tag is a 3LDZ. It was pictured to make a comparision.

Why not get a K27 HF from Kevin?
Saw a new one in the classifieds for $800 -- JUMP ON IT ASAP if it is still there.

Oh, I did jump on that one. He wouldn't do paypal or any other escrow type account. He wanted a check or cashiers check ONLY. Since he is in Puerto Rico I didn't want to take the chance, so I passed. I know it was a good deal too bad we couldn't work it out.

I contacted him too...and got the same request for payment. I wanted to do the deal, but he's brand new to the forums and being in Puerto Rico with no history made me a bit anxious. That's not to say it's not a good deal for someone, but I'm with WCC...just couldn't do it with an escrow fallback position. I think I saw that he's advertising some 930 engines too.....

Sonny's been around for 2 years, I wouldn't hesitate too much to buy it from him.

Yes, and he knows a lot of technical data.
EDIT: Oh wait, I only have 2 posts... ![]() But always best to be safe than sorry. I can remember a long time ago being interested in a part that Merv from Oz (WydRyd) had for sale. I was quite amazed that he would think I would send full payment and then wait for the goods. I offered to do a COD with UPS or DHL but he refused. ![]()

History here is a excellent credit check...this place is not like a lot of other forums...small group, we all get to know ea other style and something about them.
For instance, If you want to sell me something, you better have more post in the tech forum side then the for sale side, and there are other clues too, those who have been here a while know what to look for.

When it comes to cyber-buying, the only thing a prospective buyer has is either recommendations from the forum membership, feedback, or personal knowledge of the person selling the goods. The comments in no way were intended as an indictment of the individual...only an observation about the payment methodology. You are right, the Pelican or Rennlist history is an excellent means of establishing bonafides..and there have now been supportive comments. This now serves to assuage any concerns.

If I wanted to sell something I would do it through ebay or send an item COD if requested & always have it insured.

Nathan,
I was burned on ebay by a guy who was selling GPS units. He used the factory info sheet from Garmin and looked like he was an established dealer. He had many happy customers and it all looked legit. It wasn't! His Happy customers were his friends who had ordered $1 items from him to build up a profile. He took about ten of us for about $500 each. Good old ebay could not have cared less. They eventually paid me $275 which is their normal insurance on any transaction other than a big ticket item like a car which can go all the way up to, are you ready for this, $20,000!!!! I bought a set of cup 2 wheels from a guy and made him send me one front and one rear each time for one half of the total. He wasn't happy but I explained that I had been taken and he was more understanding. Most of us are honest people and this forum should help persuade people to buy from someone who has an item for sell, but on ebay you are really hanging it out. Ebay has an escrow service but it is so expensive that most items are no longer a good buy. If any of us have had good experience with a seller on this forum, we should recommend him to the group.

Thanks for sharing Rudy, I guess I have just always been lucky on Ebay. I look at the feedback and take it from that. What score did he have ? (I don't have all that many friends

That was where he was clever. He had several people pose as big buyers but in actuallity they were local people who probably bought the same item over and over. I was also taken by a "Power Seller" who had over 2500 sells. He was a guy who was so big that he did not have time to fix a problem nor did he care about negative feed back. When I told ebay, they said that he was one of their best sellers and they couldn't do anything to him. Beware of ebay.

I was had by a Canadian seller who sold me a $200 item then claimed that it must have been lost in transit. He kept me stringing along for over a month till I couldn't file a complaint kuz it went past the deadline. Then I saw him selling MY ITEM again about a week later. He even had the audacity to use the same advertisement. I tried going thru eBay but they were no help. I had sent him a cashier's check, so there was no way to recoup the money. That's why I was a bit taken back by this last request for a cashier's check rather than an escrow account or PayPal. Consequently, I'm a bit more cautious since then.

The one on the left is not a K27. The frame on the intake is not right. It should have the blue tag & the triple-K embossed on it like this:
![]() Looks to me like some kind of hybrid.
