930 Convertion Question
 

First off this is my first post and I am glad to find such a great site with such knowledgeable people. So my question is this, I have been reading many post regarding the conversions of non-turbo 911”s to turbo’s and want to know if the exhaust headers and turbo piping from a 1978 3.3 turbo model will bolt up to a 1981 3.0 engine? I read that the 1976/77 3.0 will but was curious about the 3.3.

Also should mention that my car is CIS but would be considering FI before performing any turbo work.

3.3 cylinder heads have somewhat different exhaust port design, as headers have pronounced "lip" that goes into the head to help sealing. Other from that, I believe it should fit OK.

In worst case, you will be forced to cut the flanges and weld new ones fitting SC heads.

Thanks, I have also checked with the guy selling the 3.3L headers and exhaust and he is also pretty sure that it will bolt up.

No, I think I am going to hold off. They look great and probably will put out some great HP increases but I still want to be able to have heat..

I have those exact same headers on my car and they are simply awesome, especially with the ball-bearing turbo & Magnaflow Muffler. I got mine for $750, including new oil line & shipped to my door in AUSTRALIA :cool:

WydRyd, what type and size turbo you running?

Garrett GT35R ball-bearing unit... 0.78A/R divided inlet turbine HSG w/V-band discharge. For a 3.0, like yours, I'd highly recommend the GT30R for sure ;)
