930 Headers
I know most go with B&B or GHL, and that's what I'm sort of leaning towards. But I've run across the goingsuperfast.com headers and the OBX headers. Their prices are VERY tempting compared to the B&B and GHL. Has any one used either one (GSF or OBX)? Any input on this would be great....

Bill: B&B and GHL are popular header upgrades, but very pricey. There may not be enough user feedback yet on the others. Also, do you want to retain your heater?
Quality materials, proven design, expert fabrication, good customer service and ease of fit may be worth the extra $$$. Note: if they crack in the wrong place, and you don't know it...could be lethal.

I didn't plan on keeping the heater around, but the wife wasn't too thrilled with both P-cars without heat. So I guess I'd like heat. Hey, if I can keep her happy maybe I'll get another P-car one some day.
I've read that about B&B headers crack, I wonder about GHL. Or maybe it was GHL? Anyways, it was one of them.... Sorry, it's late here, or I'm getting old! EDIT: mb911 - Those look pretty sweet... Do they have heat? They kind of look like they do... EDIT, EDIT: Well maybe not, damn I'm getting tired. I'll check it out tomorrow.

Ben,
Did you fab or buy the cross over pipe to put that whole system together? Tinker |

I have owned the B&B's on my 930 now for 3 years. I have driven non-stop (except for fuel) from the East Coast to the Midwest and back again with no problems. I think the "cracking" issue is an old issue going back more than five years ago. Just be sure and use the factory turbocharger mounting bracket so the turbo isn't just supported by the header flange.
The GHL had issues of their own regarding over-boost with their smaller diameter header to wastegate pipe. The wastegate could never bleed off enough energy to prevent an overboost during WOT events.

mb911 (Ben) so you had to fab up all the piping, or do you sell the weld up kit? Do you have a link to that kit? I haven't found one. What's the job involved if I picked up a set without heat and wanted to add it?
Here is the goingsuperfast ones, and for $1200 w/heat seems like a good deal. Item number: 160038627855 NOTE: You have to scroll down through the ad to see the ones with heat. These are the OBX and they are even cheaper. But no heat. I never heard of them so are they any good? Item number: 260070690628 EDIT: I just fixed those links.

Bill,
I have the B&B with heat on my car, if you would like some pictures I can crawl under it and take some. The heat works awesome, and as I plan on driving it in nice dry weather, heat was one of the things I looked for during my search. Bill |

But to this point we only provide a weld up kit as I do not have a 930 here to mock up exact locations for mufflers etc. so what I do is buy 95% of the kit from ssi and the whole kit is 321 and 347 so we are dealing with top notch stuff I add to the kit 4 2 inch elbows and 2 2" v band flanges and this makes it complete weld up kit . It would take a good car guy/fabricator 2 hours to cut and weld up the kit. I have never seen anything like this as far as qulity. I don't sell a bunch and at 1550 they are kind of expensive but are not equaled by anything I have seen. here is a pic of the 347 flange that is for my car that I changed the flange for my T4 T04e Turbo..

mb911-Do you want to use my 930 to mock up some headers? I'm not in any hurry so I could bring it up there in the spring for you guys to fab up something. Then maybe we could work something out for a complete exhaust system. My 930 is completely stock, but I have a K27 too so you could mock up something for that too if you want. Let me know, send me a PM or Email and I'm sure we can work it out if you want.
Otherwise, I'll probably pick up a bolt on type.

Bill, if the prototype thing doesn't happen, just buy the B&Bs and you'll be a happy man.
B&Bs + the K27 HF from Kevin + properly done WUR + some knowledge = one fast mosheen

I have the B&B setup on my car and it works great. I have had to have my friend TIG a crack once, but that was because I was dumb and didn't fab up a bracket to secure the exhaust. Other than the "user error" crack, they have been very good to me and have taken some serious abuse.

I bought my 930 with zero support for the turbo OR the bullet muffler......it was all hanging from the turbo/header join.
Also watch your WG attach flanges - or the below can happen when a weld breaks . You may get weld remnants, which can be ingested into the turbo. Kevin recommends (a bottle brush, I believe) a/to clean up the loose weld remnants after repair. Before ![]() After ![]()
