930 tires
wondering if someone can help me with some tire issues. It is time to replace my rears, 87 930. I currently have yoko es100 205 55 zr16 front 245 45 zr16 rear. I would like to continue to use my stock Fuchs. is it possible or desirable to run 225 55 16s on the front with this wheel to help with understeer and also could I run 245 50 16 on the rear instead of 245 45 16. the 45 is becoming impossible to obtain from yokohama, while the 50 is widely available. just wondering if anyone sees a problem with rubbing with the taller sidewall. Thanks for your help guys.

I'd go with a 225/50-16 in front, the 225/55 is a bit tall. On the rear, my first choice if available would be the 245/45 because the 245/50 is also a bit tall but not much more than the 275's and 315's that others are running.

Both of my cars are street only so YMMV if you do track events. But I've had really good luck with Sumitomo on both of my P-cars. They are inexpensive and stick well for spirited driving. Again, I have not done track events.

I have the HTR Z on my 930 and the HTR Z II on my 911. I wanted the Z II on the 930 but they didn't make them in that size so I thought I'd try the HTR Z. These are new to me and only have one season on them. But from my experience with my HTRZ II tires they have been great.
First off you can't beat the price. Secondly they are very responsive and have great grip. Thirdly, again only street use, got just about 35000 miles out of this set of the HTR Z II. I probably would have gotten more but last fall before I put the car away for the winter I picked up a nail that is too far over to repair. So this spring I'll be buying another rear set, fronts are still good. Another thing, I've taken both cars on long trips and I didn't find them noisy on the stock 930 and the 911 drowns out the sound of the radio, tires, passenger so I don't know if they are noisy or not. ![]()
