Wastegate pipe
What effect on sound and performance would replacing my stock WG pipe (has the muffler/can) with just a pipe? Would I be able to hear the WG open better?

My understanding is that performance wise, it will help to prevent overboost situations since it can immediately evacuate boost when open. Mine sounds like an F 14 when it opens. (Cool in tunnels)

Found a monty from AASE for $80.00. I did not find one from our host... I'll post a WTB in the For Sale forum and see what comes up. Any other recommendations?

I went to exhaust shop and got them to cut off the pipe and muffler and weld a straight through to the same flange in a larger diameter. $40 and fifteen minutes later what a noise, lol

Does the length of the WG pipe make a difference?

The length of the wastegate pipe and the location of the outlet both make a difference in the sound level.
Mine is about 8" long and has a 90* bend at the end pointing it toward the ground. With a stock Euro muffler there is a marked transition from the growl of an excellerating engine to "the gates of hell" opening up when boost hits. Loud when you want it to be.

Ben:
If you can fabricate a w/g pipe similar to the Monty style as noted in an above post, I'll order from you.
