car runs fine ,cut it off run in store 10 mins try to start just cranks
I let it sit for 20 mins it will pop then cut off it will do this for another 15 mins and then start and run. I can hear the fuel pumps running the whole time so the relay is good. when it 1st happend i tried letting the pump run for 30 seconds but it wouldnt hit. when it did fire it was misfiring but clears up after a minute. it will only do this if i cut it off for a few minute hot. otherwise it wont cut off while driving. should i start with the fuel accumulator 1st ? i do have spark off the coil and its not really humid outside. if any1 has the fix any input would be much appreciated pete

Sounds like the accumulator. Put some gauges on and check residual pressure.

I don't know, I had that exact problem and it was the 28 year old accumulator. Replaced it and problem solved, I never had to troubleshoot further. I'm sure the experts on here will chime in with useful info that I'm unaware of. I can only relate my experience. However, check your pressure to see if that's your problem. You have to start somewhere and that's the place I'd start.

Because the cold start injector will kick start the system. After 10 minutes the CS is off and the fuel plate pulls down and the fuel lets the car fire off. If the pressure bleeds off and the system is wihtout fuel hot is vapor locks the fuel head and takes some time to force fuel through it.
Check the rest system pressure 10 and 20 minutes rest.

Like Porschephd said, vapor lock. If you don't maintain fuel pressure it bleeds off and the remaining fuel in the line vaporizes when the engine is hot. When that happens your car is trying to start on fumes. After the engine cools the fuel condenses back to a liquid, albeit a low pressure liquid. Once you start the car, the pumps bring the pressure back up and will maintain liquid seal in the fuel lines until to shut it down and vapor lock occurs again. I'm betting it cranks over a few times before starting when cold, not a lot, but more than it should. Mine did as pressure built, after replacing the accumulator it fires almost immediately. Check your pressures, it's the most basic thing you NEED to do to insure a proper running car.

ahhhhhhh , ok makes sense. I'll pick up a fuel filter too and replace too while im in there. 1 more thing when you replace the valve on the pump is it on the 1 in front or the 1 in the rear? this is all good stuff and really appreciate the info

Nope, just one in the front. That is it.
