It is a bunch of money I'll freely admit....but it's not $66K as was the Black/Black '89 coupe <10K miles that was offered to me early this year.

The owner of green '89 930 in Sedona, AZ has just this evening decided her price is now $65,000.

After dealing with Ron Susser (broker) for the past month and agreeing upon the price cited above but subject to my personal inspection of the car, I sank $3600 into 3 days of coverage for my position at work and another $700 into plane tickets to depart tomorrow only to be told of this price increase tonite.

I'm done.

Yeah...let them sit on that for a while...I think that with your enthusiasm for the car, your willingness to jump a plane and go there, all those elements combined to make them think they have a jewel there worth big bucs. Hell, even Barrett Jackson doesn't get that sort of money...well at least not all the time. I think the most I've seen one go for at BJ was 70K and that was a slantnose with around 6K miles on it.

Let them sit on this and watch time go by...then come back on them if you're still interested...or maybe you'd like my slant.

Don't you love it when they up the advertized price? I just went through the same thing on a much smaller scale. Spitting mad does not begin to describe the feeling.

You are better off. I don't know how a car that is claimed to have sat for 3 years can also be claimed to start and run normally. Sitting and running don't co-exist in my book.

Pav: After the smoke clears and they don't get anywhere near their price from the eBay auction....I wouldn't be surprised if they come back to you. They're in for a rude awakening.

From a selfish perspective, I'd like to see these cars bring in that kind of money...but the market just isn't there for this kind of price....maybe an off frame restoration at Barrett Jackson...but not on eBay.

I stopped short of name calling but the broker knows that I'm livid....and no longer interested in this car.

Thanks for the support though...I appreciate it.

Pav: There are a lot of cars out there that come up time and again. When I first started looking, I almost pulled the trigger on three or four. Each one was EXACTLY what I wanted, and I wanted to buy it before someone else snagged it out from under me. But the longer I looked, and the better versed I became in desireable features, the more I realized that really nice cars are phasing through all the time...and that if you miss this one, you invariably find another. I equate this to hunting elk. You see a magnificent set of antlers, but decide to wait, then another equally or better set comes by...eventually you get the trophy you wanted all along. These folks are greedy and a bit unethical with regard to how they dealt with you. If you have the cash ready, you're in great shape to pull the trigger, as well as negotiate with someone who's not out in la-la land.. I know I'm really glad I waited...and I ended up with my darn near concours slant... Best of luck to you.. Chuck

The broker e-mailed today...the auction ended early as (according to the broker) the car was sold to an Austrian for $65,000...no way to know if that's true or not but if so, $53,500 suddenly looks like a "good deal." Live and learn.....

Gad, what a ripoff.
Trust me, that car would have been a problem - the color, sitting.....
