Value '87 930 w/blown engine/transmission

Need some guidance here.
Anyone like to estimate the market value of a '87 930 (not mine!)with a blown engine (money shift 4th to 1st) and transmission that needs rebuild (3rd synchromesh worn out). Good body, original paint, no rust. Nice blue leather interior. Brakes, suspension, steering all check out ok.

Based on the car selling for ~28K if it were running well, I'd offer it's worth no more than 12-14K, and I would not be suprised if it didn't sell for under 9K.

A buyer would need to budget 15-18K for rebuild, and that basically assumes that the major parts are OK - crank/crankcase damage increases those costs significantly.

All that being said, if I had the space to undertake a project like this, it would be fun.....

I'd say the a used running engine is worth 10k, a decent tranny another 2-2.5k, The car is worth around 30K, that would make it worth 18k if you're doing the work yourself .. . Figure at least $1k to rebuild the tranny ( again doing it yourself).

Just a price point. Nice black 77' went for $16k with 60k miles on Ebay last night. I've look at rollers bad from $5500 to nice at $9000. Tranny is worth at least $1k and core 930 as long as its rebuildable $3k. So what condition is it? Rims? Mileage? Title? Condition?

For christsakes, you guys need to lay off the viagra.

There are varying degrees of "blown". A missed shift resulting in a bent valve is not the same as a fist sized hole in the side of the case.

'87 930s are going in the low $30s these days. I would think that no engine or tranny would cut that price in half if not more.

Sure, I will add that many of the rollers that I've looked at had bad titles and therefore "yours" would be several $$ more for that alone than the range I listed above.

As Brian mentioned, "blown up" is an ambiguous description when it comes to value. Does it need a top end or loose a rod?

ouch.

That's a $20-$22,000 engine build (not doing it yourself). $2500 for the gearbox rebuild.

I think $8K sounds about right.

Yep, $8K puts it about right and even opens the door for someone with aspirations of dropping in a 3.6 w/G50 N/A engine for a track car! I would have snapped it up 4 months ago.

Yep, sounds like an $8K 930 around these parts.. and that depends on the quality of the rest of the package.

Mike,
If this car comes up on the market and if open to the public please contact me. I am looking for a personal project car. This sounds like a fit for me.

Listen to you guys!! You're circling like vultures.. If the car is in good shape, finding a 10k engine and a 3k tranny, dropping them in the car and it's still work 28-30k.. Unless it's trashed, 8k for a roller is way too low!! Hey it's worth more than that parting it out!!
