Straight pipe after your muffler with a slight bend by the tip to exit the car like a factory muffler would. That is what Im looking for Brian, just to keep you and I on the same page.

Thanks!

Chris,

Good to see you're doing more to your car. Got sick of CIS, eh?

Sounds like you have a plan already. But in case you're interested, or in case anyone else is, here's a pic of my engine with a Borla right-exit muffler, 3 in and out, and a "faux" 3 in outlet on the wastegate dump pipe on the left side. This is a Bob Holcombe design, and is mated to a Garrett turbo (built by Kevin). One interesting thing is that with this arrangment, there is no Marmon clamp or bolt-on flange. There's a stainless ring on the end of the muffler inlet that engages with the turbine housing. It's a slip fit right into the turbo. The only thing holding the muffler on is the big band clamp you see. It's amazingly secure and very easy to take on and off.

Rob

Here's the ring on the muffler:

A straight pipe of any length would be very loud. I will gladly make you one if that is what you want. The cost would be significantly less if the muffler section is omitted.

The exhaust system you fellas are describing would be similar to the C2T style with the W/G exiting the driver's rear corner. The muffler exiting the passenger's side is not a problem.

The orientation of the tips is important. That is why I need to see a picture of your valance and a description of what you expect it to look like. I can add any style tips on the market if that is what you want.

Ugh - I hate to even show this picture.
This is a (bad) picture of my "mule" bumper with stock outlet muffler in place. I spent a lot of time making it tuck up nice and close to the body lines. Yes I plan to paint the bumper soon. I also have custom valances available in fiberglass if interested.

Chris - I have unwittingly high-jacked your thread. We can talk further about this off line if you wish.

Rarly,

Let's see some pictures of that straight pipe when you make it, heading out the passenger side. I might want one, and definitely want to see one!

Thanks!

I can't make anything custom unless it is sold. The materials are just too expensive to gamble with. I do have waste gate dumps and zorks. Those aren't too difficult to move.

I dumped my Fabspeed single because I thought it too loud, so I went to a straight through tubular Magnaflow (6" dia x 18" long) and out the passenger side. Again, to loud for me.

Bought a SS donut at 3", cut in half and came back out the driver's side with straight pipe under the Magnaflow... better, but on long hwy drives at 75+mph (with shortened 4th, now turning 3500rpm), it was loud.

Settled, finally with a Borla XR1 mini tube in line under the Magnaflow (see picture). That did the trick. the whole thing is free-flow, wide open that a tennis ball could go through it.

Second picture shows the final set-up, black out BBQ paint, as the system hangs a bit lower than the bumper.

Last is rear end view...

Magnaflow dyno results are VERY favorable - IMO the best way to go for noise reduction and still incredible power.

But - I still prefer no muffler
