Here is a picture of a Zork I have for sale. The optimum exhaust system for a turbo is no system at all. This is as close as it gets. The flame is a pretty nice face-saving victory signal to the fellow in the rear view.

You guys think you get hit on bad, I drive a 914 and the street competition is all over me.

My car should run close to 5lbs per hp or less I also run short gears.. The Boxsters and 911 owners show me no respect.

I dont think there are many cars on the road that could hang with me from 30 to 140.

I have only run against a bike both from a rolling start, this was before I went over my engine so I was running around 300 rwhp I think. He stayed even with my door up to about 80 then I pulled a little on him we both backed off around 100. He looked over to me and mouthed and shrugged WTF and gave me a thumbs up... I have to admit it was fun.

That 914/6T has to be an outrageous ride! Are you running a 915?

I'm not sure exactly why but I never get hit on by other drivers to race. Could just be the car doesn't look like an easy mark. Some folks chase me down to have a look and then give a thumbs up and take off.

Brian,
No, I have to baby a 901 short geared LSD box. I have an extra 901 transmission thats been rebuilt when this fails, but I will most certainly have to step up to a 930 or ZF box eventually. It's called one step at a time, if I keep working on my car I will never get it out of the garage.

It is not really that loud at all. I will never go back to a muffler again. At idle, it sounds a little loud, but at speed...WOW !!!

As far as the back pressure.... turbos hate back pressure...the less of it the better. You would be amazed at how much the turbo quiets things down..

It appeared that he stab at his throttle to initiate something but I immediately gave it a little gas which then lets the turbo spool up whistling loudly out of the zork tube. I think this in itself, made him realize it was not an ordinary 911 so he backed off and returned to the far right lane.

Gotta love these cars!!
Was this a white M5?

Noise is in the ear of the beholder.

If your neighbors dislike your dual outlet muffler they will lynch you if you install a zork. As Brad states the zork is very tolerable once underway but for me personally it is too loud for any nieghborhood if attached to a daily driven street car.

What dual outlet muffler are you running?
(sent you an e-mail on the zork)

But yet ,, people tolerate Harleys............Which in my mind are just loud and annoying ..

I wasn't going to bring up the Harleys.

The reality is that Harleys are condoned by the law, not the public. I don't think however that the same level of obnoxious would be tolerated coming from a car. The Zork is not as loud as a Harley and the tones are much less harsh so you could probably get away with it on the open road.

LOts of McLaren 600 horsepower MBs on the road over here as well as 600 plus horsepower AMGS are all over the place. Many 900 to 1000 horsepower Skyline GTRs. One guy in town has a 944 with a 900 horsepower skyline engine. Saw a Suzuki Samurai with a 500 horsepower twin turbo Supra motor at the upholstery shop. Heck, I give up!
