Talking What kind of oil do you run in your Porsche?

Normally I would like to run Mobil 1 Synthetic, but for some reason synthetic seems more prone to leaking, so I run regular Castrol 10W40. So far my car doesn't leak anything.

I had an 87 Carrera that leaked like crazy on Synthetic but slowed down the leakage quite a bit with regular organic oil.

What has been your experience?

The Oil in My Porsche

Since Porsche saw fit to build my car with Mobil 1 in the engine, I will continue to use it. It is expensive, but then again; we have an expensive hobby.

If you go Synthetic use Royal Purple.
Otherwise the Brad Penn oil spec's out on top.

Mobil 1 15-50.

It leaks few drops a week, so what... a little floor cleaning once in a while, but piece of mind.

Fuchs supersyn 20w 50! Love it and it has passed the ultimate 120 degree desert test with a broken fanbelt at high speed and at idle!
Porsche has also tested the new Castrol 10w60 with good results (not the same for BMW 4.0 v8s with small oil galleries.)

Swepco 20w50. Much less leaks than with Castrol syn, but the silicone valve cover gaskets are probably helping too...

Another vote for....

Royal Purple.....20W50.

Decided to try it, as I am doing my part to not contribute to Exxon's profits......otherwise I would run Mobil 1 likely too.

So far great, car seems very happy.
