Every time I take my intercooler off, I notice evidence of oil in the intake system. Some will puddle on the top of the flange on the casted intercooler turbo to IC pipe. Intercooler is damp with oil too. About 6 months ago, I removed the airfilter plenum and replace it with the BMC element and disconnected the Sump vent. Where else in the intake system can oil be introduced. It causes my engine to smoke occasionally. The coupling on the cold air intake side of the turbo had oil in/on in also. So where upstream could it be coming from...?
Any ideas? Thanks Bob

Sounds like it's coming from the turbo's oil supply somehow.

Check the plumbing coming from the CIS metering plate all the way down to the turbo inlet. If there's oil in that passage, then you know it's oil vapors being sucked up from the oil tank.

Does your car have the oil seperator in the right hand side of the engine compartment? This is yet another mod I want to do...

Nathan,
What does it look like? Is there a breather from the sump tank to the intake manifold? I disconnected the one from the aircleaner and installed a small filter on it that came with the BMC Kit. Thanks Bob

So there's no line from the oil tank to the air cleaner? This would rule out any blowby from the oil tank if the breather lines have been removed.
