930 911 sc

I am about to add the 930 parts to the sc 3.0 engine. I have been wondering if I can do away with the EBC and add a BOV in place of it? I would like to reduce some of the complexity of the stock system. Thoughts?

That does really not make sense getting rid of EBC to put a BOV inplace? Not sure what you are doing here. as the EBC controls the WG and the BOV protects the turbo from reverb so to speak

Really? I guess I don't know what that thing does. Sure is a big heavy piece of whatever. OK, so how can I bypass it? Is that a bad idea then?

The value of this BBS is to have things discussed or explained in the open forum so all may learn and the information can be archived for retreval by those seeking information later on.

There are several folks on the board who have turbocharged their SCs. Tell us some specifics about your goals and let everyone who has done this before chime in with their experiences and results.

Brian, the point of him calling me is to explain what all the stuff he has in his hand where is goes. I sent him 4 boxes of parts so unless he is going to post pictures of every single part it is hard for me to describe via a BBS board all the things he has in his hand.

Ah, that would have been good information to know.
That conversation has not already taken place?

Stephen is a busy guy and I don't want to bug. Very nice though and smart! Anyway, My idea is to use the 930 fuel and intake parts that Stephen sent me. I know it will be straightforword for the most part. I will need the pipes from the turbo to some kind of intercooler (probably stock if I can get it to go under the grill of a carrera 3.0 tail). And I have a 3ldz that I guess is good as a start point to get the car running and tuned some. I will reduce the boost with the use of an aftermarket wastegate.
I need to know before I tear into it if the throttle linkage is the same or similar? I'll need to track down some linkage if not still. My car will not be a big deal at first. In fact, less than stock but better than sc power.

We love "bolt on"!!! You will soon have a lot more questions. Do you have the engine out yet?

Brandon:
I would strongly recommend you drop the engine out, so that it's accessible, you can get the old CIS stuff off, you can get at the oil line for connections, etc. You may find that you have to drop it halfway through this exercise because you dropped something down an intake port due to working in close quarters. It's actually pretty easy to get the engine/trans out in one piece, and will make life much simpler.

Brandon, please do provide photos. I am also planning around Nov/Dec to do the same thing, I have collected a complete 930 intake, fuel, intercoller and am just waiting for the 100 degree Florida weather to drop.

BTW
WHat are you using for exhaust? If you are not worried about heat GSF has great pricing on a set of headers. I picked up a new T04E with a T4 housing and will have GSF change out the header flange when I order. I did not want to go with the norm KKK turbos and have always been happy with Garret.
