79 930 crank pulley
Have a 79 930 and was wondering if the crankshaft pulley is also a harmonic balancer. It has the dual pulley for both the alternator and A/C drive, but I cannot tell from looking at it in the car whether it is a solid steel pulley or if it had a rubber disc to act as a typical harmonic balncer pulley.
Anyone know for certain whether it is a solid one piece design or not? Thanks, Fred

My two groove 79 930 pulley was solid.
I also have an 89 930 two groove which is solid. I noticed on both a 964 and a 993 motor there was rubber isolation which appeared to be for harmonic (edit) dampening. Last edited by Jim2; 10-08-2007 at 09:15 AM.. |

It is not a harmonic balancer, the crankshaft and flywheel are internally balanced as a single unit.
