Muffler power?

I've got an 1988 930 in which I am installing a k27, headers, and possibly a new muffler. Can someone tell me whether changing the exhaust pipe will REALLY add HP?

Thanks,
Dsiegel360

rarlyl8 motorsports just posted hp number a while back on his muffler design(made by us@M&K) And I thought he said 12hp gain but don't quote me as we only make them for his company so don't know a bunch about them

Yes, a free flowing muffler will allow more horses out of the engine.
That is only part of the benefit. You also get a faster spool and easier revving engine that seems "uncorked" while running through the RPMs. It's a great upgrade that completely changes the characteristics of the car.

Another benefit is the lack of that giant heat sink of a muffler - extreme amounts of heat lie within a regular muffler while in use on the track.

It is. Which doesn't sound a lot different than a straight thru cherry bomb style muffler -
