Which MAP sensor?
Sorry for the silly question, Im placing my order for the bits i need for the project. It will be a supercharged unit with .9 to 1.2 BAR max.
Question is do I need a 2-BAR sensor or a 3-BAR sensor? Is the 1-BAR of atmospheric pressure already counted or not? thanks |
They are absolute pressure so a 3 bar will cover up to 2 bar. Even if you didn't plan to go over 1 bar boost, it's still a good idea to get a 3 bar sensor so you can still provide fuel in case of an overboost situation.

To add to David's comments, make sure the software can handle what you're looking for. For example, some systems allow you to set the parameters, and other only accept a specific sensor. Mine allows both.

Thanks guys. The software (Adaptronic) works over any range and reference voltage I want to set. I know what range the sensor needs to operate over but not how the manufacturer/retailer describes it!

Someone like Richard Clewett or Geoffrey Ring might know. Your software mfg might even know.

I'm by no means an expert on this even though I've spent a gazillion hours on my EFI system, but I believe if it's a 5 volt sensor the range for 0 to 300 kPa (or 100 or 200 kPa) would be 0.1 to 4.9 volts.

3 bar GM Map sensor- I believe that the Grand national used a 3 bar in case you want to shoot over to Chevy. Otherwise any EFI retailer on the web will (should) have one in stock. Another option is to use AEM's new 3 bar map sensor, it plugs into the manifold via 1/8 NPT and negates the use of a vacuum line.... just some usefull/useless info.
