congrats & welcome

is it guards red?, looks like a bit of orange-brown like Peru red....maybe just the lights.
I too was amazed at the mileage on my maiden drive home. Trip was from from Alexandria Va to Jersey shore. half a tank? then I looked at the manual & found out it was 21 gal.
25+ mpg... still decent for a 160+ mph car!

as mentioned, first mods were exhaust, waste gate, and turbo.

Viper,
Banff and the Rockies is an unbeliveable place to drive. One of the best roads is hwy #93 from Lake Louise to Jasper...but make sure you come in the summer, never know what the weather will do.

Bill,
What exhaust, wastegate and turbo did you go with? What was the outcome?
other than the hole in your wallet...

from B&B: B&B headers with heat and wg pipe, (3 month wait time)
from Steven at Imagine: Tial wg and a K-27 S
I added a B&B single outlet muffler later, purchased on Pelican.
I was coming from the original thermal reactors, so the upgrade made a huge difference.

Nice clean 930,
I can probably set you up with an exhaust system, ha!
Most certainly can give better pricing. These cars transform once you let the horses out!

Jeff,
Thanks for the invite and compliment on the car (ditto for all you guys)......I'll be there Saturday. I haven't heard back yet from the PCA so the site won't allow me to sign up, but I doubt they'll turn me away. I was hoping to meet a few locals.....can't wait!

bkreigsr,
Yeah, it's guards red, the lighting didn't do me any favors. By the way, I'm pretty familiar with the Jersey Shore....I grew up in NJ....small world.

RarlyL8,
Glad to meet you. During my research before purchase I ran across a few of your posts. You really know these cars! However indirect it was, you really helped me out while I was trying to gain more knowledge of the 930 and I'd like to take this opportunity to say thanks.

I never thought I'd meet so many cool people through this purchase. Awesome.

Viper01, Great to hear you are running. I don't think they will turn you away either. I will be there after lunch to watch a couple friends (also Pelicans) run. We usually park on the left side of the parking lot as you enter (turn 10 I believe). My friends Don and Lee drive 72s, one silver one red. Stop by and say hi.

Viper, great looking 930. My 1992 964 Turbo is Guards Red / Black as well. I really like the color combination.

Where did you find this car (meaning online, etc., I know you got it in CA). I looked at a Guards Red 86 that had about the same mileage on it, about a year ago. Just curious more than anything.

My 1992 had 33,000 miles on it when I got it, I'm up to 41,000 now. These cars love to be driven, and I didn't want to buy one and turn it into a garage queen!

Jeff, I'll be there around noon. Look forward to meeting you.

BSiple, I found the car on Autotrader and it was located in Vista, Ca just north of San Diego. I won't bore you with the details of my long search as I spent so much money just on airfare and hotels going to look at some cars.....and that's after a careful screening process. I finally determined it's best to just pay a little more for the increasingly rare car with low prior ownership history, plenty of paperwork and a knowledgeable seller. In my case it was a PCA member who owned a couple of porsches. No misrepresentations, no excuses etc. Really made the experience both fun and professional. Beatiful '92 from your avatar by the way!

Mark, all is can say is Wow. Your car is gorgeous. That's exactly how I want mine to look...love the stance.

Hey Mark, what tire size are you running with both front and back? It looks awesome but does it rubs?

Nice ride and welcome- Mine is totally stock minus 18" RH wheels and a 3 spoke steering wheel. I have not had any regrets but it is hard...... to ..... resist.... To the point I am getting ready to buy a second not so pretty 930 to just make go FFFAAASSSTTT. I guess the Dark side is winning, Beware.

And Cowtown --If memory serves me right the Euros were a little higher than thier US cousins- OR everyone just likes giving me a hard time for not lowering my Euro yet.

Regards, Mike

Mike,
I have heard conflicting reports about ride height...I assumed the Euro car was lower. I read classified ads that the car was lowered to Euro ride height while I was looking for a car.
If I did lower the car with coil overs...then why not a new turbo, then IC, then...then...then the darkside has taken over. lol

Beautiful car. Red over black is the car that I wanted when growing up and what made me want a Porsche. Congrats.

Dai, 245 and 315 x 17. No problem in back. I needed to roll the front fenders as I also added a 1 inch spacer.

Viper, I know what you mean about the search, and the $$ involved. I looked at an 86 that was in great shape like you one you bought, and thought it might have been the same car, but the Fuch's weren't polished on the one I looked at.

I don't have a ton of pictures of the 92, for some stupid reason, but I really like this one...

Bill

Viper...you asked for a picture of my contribution to the 930 gratutious picture file? This is one of 40 87 slantnose cabs.

BSiple, great shot. I really like the smooth bumpers......I've seen some nice mods done to earlier turbo's on this site. Man, there sure is a lot of temptation on this board.

Chuck, thanks for your post. I don't see a link to your pic but I'd sure like to see your slantnose cab!

There's a car show every Saturday here in town that draws a ton of cars. I'm planning on taking the car next week and will post pics. For some reason I rarely see many Porsches in attendance but I'd like to change that. If any locals would like to meet up that would be great...show is in Scottsdale, AZ (101 & Indian Bend).

Sorry....It didn't upload

Viper: I guess the previous attempt failed. Here's the shot of the 87. I've got new SSI headers, Y pipe, and turbo coming. Also will install Leaske's WUR and solenoid along withe the Blown6 intercooler. Should be fun after that. Will be a good cold weather project.
