Question 930 Brakes??????

Hey Guys, could do with a little help on this one please. Ok the problem is we have major brake shuddering problems here, it shudders viciously. Ok so decided to machine the Rotors and all of a sudden Huh????? These rotors look like they have been put on the wrong side, these pics are looking at the RR Wheel, can someone please confirm for me if these are on the wrong side? The flutes in the rotors are pointing the wrong way are they not?? And can someone please confirm for me if these are 930 Brakes cos someone told me they look like 993? Im no expert on 993's cos I never owned one so anyone know if he is right? I know this car has been played around with alot from the previous owner so if they are 993 brakes it wouldnt surprise me, cheers all, oh yeh the car is a 1985 930 Turbo by the way

The rotors are on the right way, and yeah those are 930 clampers
993 calipers look like this.. simply they don't say RUF, they say Porsche.

I hope that helps you out

Correct, I describe it as not acting like a paddle wheel scooping air, but rather like a centrifugal pump throwing air out as it sucks it in the center.

Oh they are on the right way huh? S**t, I was kinda hoping u were gonna say they were wrong, bugger!! Ok so I was wrong on that theory, ok well it looks like the shuddering must be the rear rotors maybe out of shape cos the fronts have been machined a couple of weeks ago, well better look for the toolbox I guess and get the rear rotors off for machining. Thanks for your help guys, I really appreicated it, take care

I'm still alive, but there is a very short list of people that are willing to go for a second ride with me .

Before I started to machine the rotors I'd check a few other things first. Like are your spacers and wheels mounted flush ? ( no rust etc.). 930 rotors don't typically warp...

If you have a major brake shudder, a dial indicator running on the rotor surface would find the suspect rotor(s) very quickly. Don't rule out front wheel bearings, also. Does the front end make a groaning sound when brakes are applied with more than average force? This sound would point to wheel bearings that are not torqued to the proper spec.

Also keep an eye on potential pad deposits - has the car seen track use?

In approriate pads during track use will transfer globs of pad material - which in turn feels just like a warped rotor.

What Craig said,, you should take it out for some spirited accels followed by some spirited decels, that may in deed clear it up

The PO installed the C2 bumpers. I didn't really like the look but the deal was too good to pass up and now I like it. I guess it's like a car dealer told me once, "what ever color you get, within 2 weeks you'll like it."

I haven't had any luck getting good rear shots since I put the big tires on it. I really need to get a video from behind of it pulling away.
