RAL Color Chart (Powder Coating Calipers)

I am about to send my 930 calipers off to have rebuilt and powder coated.

Does anyone know the correct RAL # from the standard RAL Color Chart for the color yellow Porsche paints their caliper from the factory?

Thanks!

I powder coated my 928 ones, they look better painted and last better, my powdercoated ones on my 928 started to rust through the powder coating and my ones i painted on my c2 i never had any issues with, i would never bother with the powder coating again, just stick with the high temperature paint, it looks better, hope that helps Sorry cant help with your question though

Are you taking them apart to have the coated? If so make sure everything is plugged. I had problems with coating getting in my calipers. Long story short it cost me alot of money and headache.

Thanks Tezme and Strokher for the feedback...
Unfortunately I have already pulled the trigger on at least the front axle for powder coating.

Found a reputable shop on the east coast that has done many 930 calipers (both rebuilding and powder coating)

I am only doing one axle at a time to minimize lost packages and poor coating!
Will post pics on this thread when the front axle gets put back together!

Then on to the rear end…Still need to find a source for Zork Tubes!

RAL Color Chart (Powder Coating Calipers) Now with Pics!

Received my calipers back from VCI (rebuilt and powder coated) and thought I would post pics for posterity.

I had VCI machine back the Porsche logo to aluminum after coating!

To answer my original question, the correct RAL# for Porsche Yellow is 1018 (Zinc Yellow)

To see these calipers in person, they look absolutely brand new!

87 930

CL8ton,

I own an 87 930. Your brakes look great. Where in CA were they done and what was the cost?

Did you send them dismantled, or did they rebuild, etc. Cost of rebuild (parts)?

Thanks,

Bryan

Send Brian a PM ( Rarelyl8 ). He produces a great zork tube product, and he even has a 935 wastegate pipe that will exit right beside it. Looks awsome! Not to mention I heard his customer service/satisfaction is top notch. Here is his website: http://www.rarlyl8.com/

I also have a GP White 930 and am wondering what those babies look like on your car. Do you happen to have a pic you can post?

Finally found NOS 2-piece rotors for the front, mounted them last weekend, tires will mount next Wednesday.
Thanks to Bryan (x98boardwell) for help bleeding the calipers using a PP power bleeder.

When the job finished and we were high five’ing each other for a job well done, then we noticed a quart of brake fluid running down the garage floor!
Dam I forgot to pinch off the overflow line

If you don't mind.. what was the cost of the powder coating and rebuild of the calipers?

They look great!

Fantastic! What kind of wheels are those- Fikse? BBS? What size/widths? I like the low stance too. Did you use the cheap bump steer spacer kit- or did you have to go with something more involved to get it that low? Thanks for sharing- this may be a project for me in the future.

Thanks Jay! This was a long 4 month process between the caliper work and sourcing NLA parts.

Rims are “Elite Forged” from VA. Rear 18x10 Front 18x8.5.
These were not my first choice as I was going to put BBS’s on but a friend offered me the rims at a price I could not refuse.

Ride height is 24.5 front and back with no bump steer installed.
