Heat Exchanger Orange Hose

Hi,
This seems like a stupid question, but I don't know the answer so here goes. I bought some of the Orange High Temp Heat Exchanger hose when I rebuilt my motor. I had to trim the lengths down which means I had to clip the wire circling the hose. Now I have this length of wire that sticks out on all my hoses like a scalpel and occasionally lays my hand open.

What's the remedy for this?

Les

Turn just over an inch of the strand of wire inwards (bend it approx 90 degrees where it comes away from the plastic) so it is inside the tube, bend it again if needed so the end does not rub on the tube.

Firstly though fold the very end of the wire over on to itself first about 1/8" like you can for lockwire ends, this is so it is not sharp.

I'll give that a shot. For some reason when you clip that wire it wants to stick straight out.

Thanx!
Les

I just tuck the cut wire back in the hose enough so that it won't pop out. You may need to bend it a little bit so that it works with the hose.

Stitches if it's real bad, maybe you could use a butterfly bandage?

What Nathan describes the exact technique aviation mechanics use for installing this hose (Aeroduct).
