New 930 owner

Just a quick hey to introduce myself. Purchased a very nice 1982 Platinum Metallic 930, 62k miles on the clock. Look forward to learning as much as possible about this beast.

Man, I just never get tired looking at these 930s. (Well, except for some of those ebay/craigslist "specials" that pop up every few months.)

Very pretty car, Matt.

Thumbs up

Hi Matt,

It was a pleasure to see you the other day.

The Turbo looks pristine, a keeper considering its original condition.

Please be careful, the driving characteristics of the 930 are considerably different then that of your previous 944. Take your time to learn driving the car. Things happen real fast when your on the boost.

Tom, absolutely, it was great to see you too! I remember being 16 adoring the Iris Blue 911 at the end of the street. Congrats to you too, on the 930.

Chris, definitely have a story. It's really cool actually. I have known the previous owner for 11 years. He has owned the car since 1993. A very good high school friend of mine's dad. He let me drive it a few times when I was 17, 18, 19, etc, back in the day. I told him back then I wanted to buy it from him someday. He said when he wanted to sell I would have first shot. Skip ahead a decade (and 700 miles/year) to three weeks ago, he calls me and gives me first dibs. A man of his word. The rest is history!

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I uploaded all the other pictures to: http://picasaweb.google.com/mergedplot

As far as the color code, I don't recall and the car is not currently in my garage to go out and look -- my dad is babysitting it until he can trailer it up here for me. His Expedition tows a bit more then my Honda Pilot. But the color is "Platinum Metallic".

One of my favorite shots...

awsome color and great story, I recently had the same thing happen to me with a 96 993 that I told the owner I would buy as a young adult. Unfortunately I had to respectfully decline
