Limited Slip
Need to purchase a limit slip unit to install in my 4-speed as part of my transmission rebuild. Car is predominantly used on the track.
Can any of you guys provide any recommendations? I understand that there are a couple of different brands, types and ratios but am not clear on which is the most preferred. Thanks

I installed a Guard Transmission 50/80 LSD in my 930 before the 07 season. After running their Torque biasing diff on the track for many years the difference was very noticeable. Going from open to 80% lockup under heavy braking settled down the rear end big time.

What is the principal difference (functionally) between the 50/80 LSD and Torque biasing?

Good suggestion... their website is very informative. I think I am going to go with a 50/80 LSD as you have based on my readings there as well as the linked discussion to vilocity magazine.

Unfortunately I read the article after I installed their TB diff, which is a great diff, but not up to the task of heavy track work.
But while I'm in there...... I sold my TB to an autocrosser which is where these diffs rule.

Checked with GT... they are out of stock of LSDs for the next month (most likely). Anyone know of any alternative sources? Quaife seems to only make the torque biasing type.

Finding a used factory LSD is probably the only other option if you can't wait.

The Gripper are better than the stock LSD's. The preloading is better suited for performance on dry roads.

915 and 930 LSD's are interchangable, I believe. Neil Bainbridge said he removed the LSD from every 930 tranny he could lay his hands on for years, as most of the 930's came with an LSD.
Tuthill's in the UK have 915 Grippers on the shelf ready to go. If you can wait the extra time, go for the GT unit - they're more flexible. I've got the 40/65 Gripper and I like it a lot, the tail is planted on deceleration. 80% lockup is pretty anti-social for street, I was told.
