At 248,000 & 90000 US$, these are mind boggling prices... plus, the '78 car doesn't have a Ruf IC as stated. It looks like a Garretson/Andial unit to me.

Heck why not. I mean a 1967 Camaro brings that and Chevrolet made 100x as many of those.

Thats funny- maybe there is hope for me- if he could get 200+k for his original, then my steel body replica has to be worth at least 100k...Right?

1.00 USD = 1.10942 AUD

275.00 AUD = 247.924 USD

Simply put Australia taxes the p!ss out of their citizens. Ive heard a variety of reasons but none too convincing.
However I suspect Australia's publicly-funded universal health care system to be one of the main catalysts of this.

Actually it's a used car so there is bugger all tax on it, 10%. New car's are a different story. The government has to tax the crap out of the people, how the hell do we live like we do with only 20 million of us. Plus I'd rather pay a bit more tax for free health care. And the health care ain't free. I pay $900 a year included in my tax bill.

Canada's health care is completely free. actually its more than free b/c they pay you when you get sick, and yes their taxes are high, but not that high!

How did we switch from an over priced car to taxes? The fact that we even connect this unreasonably priced car to taxes has got to say something in itself.....maybe rediculous?
