Bypassing Boost sensor....
I have a bad sensor and shunted the line to ground...it starts up great but runs rough/dies at speed.....is this normal?????
|
Err...which "boost sensor"??
There is only a transducer for dash gauge which does nill for the engine. There is also a overboost switch which cuts fuel pumps if boost goes over 1.1 bar. What did you "shunt"? |
Sorry....overboost switch....switch is bad, had to ground the line to start the car.....
|
Well I guess we have reason to believe the grounding wasn't groundish enough? Time to check fuel pump relay and your earth paths? Worst case, hotwire the pumps?
|
I don't think it should affect how it idles, etc. I had mine grounded out for a very long time.

Check if you get 12v at both pumps. Check that both pumps are actually turning (and making noise). Check for air leaks.
|
Yes, by bridging 30 and 87 on each relay both pumps run....it's possible I had a bad sensor switch and a bad relay, I'll check...

West Palm Beach and overboost switches just don't get along I guess...
I live there too and if i get on it with the wire on the overboost switch it'll shut off the fuel pumps at around 9bar everytime and leave the car and me on the side of the road... That switch on mine must be used up because it won't let the car start until I remove the wire from it and ground it. So, I have a little male spade terminal mounted on the intercooler next to the switch now and the overboost wire stays on it now. . . works great. If that stupid switch wasn't so ridiculously overpriced at around $75 I'd buy a new one, but it should be no more than an oil pressure switch at around $10... so forget that. I have the VDO mechanical boost gauge with telltale in the clock hole and it shows peak boost at just over 9 bar with a K27HFS turbo and B&B headers on a 75 degree day so I just leave the wire grounded and enjoy the car. |
Yo Fairman...where you at? I'm in the Acerage......
|
Lucky you to live out there...
I'm around southern and olive, not far from the corner store... a good source for any kind of beer. And they have a generator to make ICE... after hurricanes. |
I have an adjustable pressure switch ready to fit in my 930.
