71 911 turbo strap on?
 
Im rebuilding my 911s. My numbers dont match so Id thought Id tweek her a bit if possible or I may just restore.

Im pretty sure b/c of the high compression of my 2.2 that turbos are out b/c it would blow the engine in short order. True?

recommend?

thoughts?

Hi,
A little off your topic here, but if I had a 911s with some triple draft carbies on it, there's no way I would mess with the beauty of it with a Turbo. I might try to increase displacement, clean it up, plumb in some SS lines, refurb the interior, etc. Personally, I just think there is beauty in those old engines!

off topic? not at all. I appreciate this. I have pained about this. If the numbers matched I wouldnt even consider it. But boy it would be fun.

I think its not even possible. I mean its possible but the compression would make it like a race car. Good for one day or two and then time to rebuild. Dont think I want that but I thought id get some feedback from the powers that be.

Shes quite fast as she was. I mean tired old engine use to just scream at about 3400. It was unnerving. then one night at 11pm around 60mph. Oil pressure - 0, oil sump 0. aaahhhh turned it off immediatley and coasted to a gas station. too late. : ((( she was gone. I tried turning the crank with a big ass ratchet. Wouldnt budge a bit. bummer.

You should rebuild with a replacement block but to S specs.
Are you sure it is an "S" engine. Many were removed from street cars to go racing.

Ironically thats what was done here. Its a T body but an S engine was installed in it which is why the numbers dont match.

Save your long hood T, sell the "S" motor to someone restoring an "S" car.
Buy a 3.2L to drop in your car - pass on all the offers for 3.0L SCs. Go stock or add Wong chip and SSI. You'll have lots more HP and torque. The 3.2L will make you instantly forget you ever had a small displacement "S" motor.

You could always send your engine to Motor Scheister for a low-compression rebuild, complete with the strap on treatment. It doesn't sound like they use any lube though...
