bwbolin, Just a heads up on 201 versus 203. You will find that a lot of the more performance oriented people use the 201 because it lack the moly additive that you find in 203. There are a lot of people who agree that that additive makes it too slick for the ZF clutch type LSD's. Furthermore, on a freshly rebuilt transmission it's just not required. If your transmission has an open differential or a torque biasing differentia, a couple of years down the road it may be worthwhile to switch back to 203 as the tranny ages. But if it has a true LSD, stick with the 201 until it's time for another rebuild. Lastly, I always tell my customers to hold off on installing 201 until they break it in. If you've got fresh synchros in there, you will want to change your gearoil in 50-100 mi. There will be particuate that cuts loose in addition to unforeseen contaminants from the rebuild process. The magnet won't grab everything, and you just spent all that money on a build so why risk it? Go down to Walmart and get a gallon of their Supertech gear oil. Put that in there for break in and then switch to the Swepco afterwards... |
