I like the Wevo in my 930.. nice shifting, simple mounting.

If you don't know much about these cars, you look in and see it, nothing special.

A buddy has a Hargett... makes people ask, what's the deal with that, why does it sit that way..is this a race car? From a fuctionality perspective.. both are nice and a huge improvement over stock.

Swap Hargett for WEVO

I have a Hargett for 930 4 speed shifter assembly. Very fine condition - maybe a total of 50 miles use. Silver anodized not black like photo. Will swap for same condition WEVO. No problems with the Hargett - just like the WEVO I had on earlier car a bit more. EPS

I will be installing a Hargett this year.

The positioning of the stick for a tall person like me fits well.
With the stock/wevo shifter, I tend to lean forward to shift.

Do a search for this and my user name. There was a pretty good thread about this exact thing.

Hey Slick,
You're one of the few people I've seen here who has had both. I have a Wevo. I'm using the Tall knob on it and I like it. However, I think I would like the Hargett's position more. I still have to "reach" a little for the WEVO. The thing I don't like about the Hargett is that I have to screw around with my Heater Controls.

What do you like about the WEVO better as opposed to the Hargett? It sounds like you were once in my position. As in, I have a WEVO and am looking at the Hargett because I like the position being further back.

EPS- After wasting time/money on a Weltmeister short-shift piece 'o scheiss I installed a WEVO in mine and it's great- much better than stock, has return springs which tighten things up and it shortens the throw. I was considering the Hargett but wanted to keep the interior of my 930 looking stock which is why I went with it. I used the "classic" shift lever which, once installed, looks exactly like the stock unit. I would guess that the Hargett shifts better than the WEVO and is in a better position - atleast I would hope it does because it looks like one hell of an erector set sitting in the middle of your car! Actually that was a bit harsh- it looks well designed; just a bit out of place if you're into the stock look. If I was building a dedicated DE or race car I'd have chosen the Hargett. Either way you go will drastically improve the shifting of your car. Good luck.

LG: I had the WEVO with a 915 built by Ed Baus. Very, very nice trans with a WEVO and Paul Guard high gear. Ran it with a small block conversion car. Wish I had it now. Put the Hargett in my 930and think it is a nice piece. Craftsmanship, adjustability and handle placement. I do believe that the housing is a little too flexible for me (I'm used to driving cars with no suspension and a seat of the pants rigidity with the only flex being in the 300 inch wheelbase chassis tubing) so I want to go back to the WEVO. I suggest we swap even up - You can have a more accessible shifter and I can go back to my old ways. EPS - Tucson

I have run them both on the 915. I loved the WEVO until I bought the Hargett. They are both excellent products, but I give the nod to the Hargett because of the shifter position.

Cheers

To each his own I guess. It looks right in a purpose built car. But I agree it is not for everyone. Very little of it is visible between the seats when you are in the car and driving it. I did not buy mine for the look of it....

Cheers

How about this one?
[

I know not Porsche, but it does put the shifter right next to the steering wheel where it is within easy reach. Sure does get funny looks from passengers.
