930 No Start 1st Suggestions
My 930 is not starting. This is a cold start. The engine cranks but there is no sign of ignition.
History. The battery was dead. I replaced it with an optima. The car turns over better than ever, but no start. I replaced the starter about 1 month ago. It eliminated the occasional "click...not start....turn the key again and hopefully it starts." The car started after this was replaced. Where would you start to trouble shoot this? |

tfulmer1,
I just had the same thing happen to my 86 930 last month immediately after installing a new battery. The car cranked great but wouldn't fire. I did NOT smell gasoline which led me to think fuel pump. I've only had the car a few months but I immediately thought of the aftermarket alarm on the car. I found the "brain" , unplugged it and the car started up right away. I've since removed the aftermarket alarm. Any add'l details you can provide would be very helpful as there are some extremely knowledgeable folks on this forum. Good luck,

I have a similar start up issues...car cranks but wont fire..
I replaced the fuel relays, worked once. Now I am looking at MAF sensor to find the trouble spot. Hope you find a solution that will work for me too

It is an 89 turbo cab. I went out after I posted this....and the car started.
I let it sit at idle for a while (at least 3 months since I had last started her) While I was buttoning up the front carpets by the battery and fuse panel the car shut off!!???? I tried to crank it again...no luck. I then decided to put the key in the door and arm the alarm. I then set off the alarm, and then disengaged the alarm by putting the key in the door.(factory alarm) Now the car started. Could some thing be going on near the fuse panel? Where do the 3 red wires run that attach to the positive post? Could there be some type of ignition lock out? |

That did not work for me...I am going to put the car back on the trickle charger and try again tomorrow. I think my car is just mad that I took it from a nice warm climate in NC to Canada.
I still think mine is a fuel problem but Ill try anything
