restore CIS + suspension input
Would it be difficult to restore a 930 engine back to CA smog spec. I am looking at what appears to be a really really nice car within my budget but I am almost positive it doesn't have the smog equipment still intact.
From any experience, is this risky? If I can get the equipment, I can put it on, however, I will likely not have the vacuum retard (maybe i can glue a line on :D) Does anybody have old smog equipment they would be willing to sell. Also, is anyone running the following suspension set-up. I expect the ride to be pretty firm. My only experience is with a stock 930 though. How much firmness/harshness should I expect. front torsion bars - 23mm rear torsion bars - 31mm (i think these are effective rates as they are hollow) 18" wheels monoball front strut bushing lowered w/ bump steer kit rear sway bar kit (forgot make) I promise this to be my last CIS post (unless I get the car) Thanks |
BTW, its a '79 (reg K-Jet)

There are many threads on the subject, you should do a search. From what I have read it seems that many folks are passing CA smog without much if any smog equipment on their cars.
You can put all the 930/68 CA smog engine stuff back on your engine if you wish. The dizzy should not be difficult to source as it is undesirable. I gave mine away years ago. |
Thanks RarlyL8,
I think I have search every combination of CIS, smog, CA, etc... I know many pass the smog test without the equipment, just want to make sure it is not too difficult to put this stuff back together. I don't see why it would be. Just need to source everything. bump on the suspension.... |
