WUR Question

Can anyone tell me how how to wire in my WUR. The current connection is not getting power. Also feedback on Brain Leask adjustable Wur. Is it worth the investment.

The WUR needs ground and 12V ignition switched power. Not polar sensitive.
If the WUR isn't getting power, the large air bypass valve may also be needing power as these components are wired in parallel in the harness.
Don't know about the Brian Leask WUR but it is always written about in a positive manner.

Trace the connection back and see where the break is.

An adjustable WUR is a necessary addition if your current WUR is unable to deliver acceptable A/F ratios throughout the RPM range or you want to optimally tune your fuel system.
You won't know if you actually need one until your current A/F ratios are checked.

They usually only get power when the fuel pumps are running.

If your fuel pumps don't run any time the ignition is switched on, you can reach back and unplug the blue connector on top of the rear of the Airflow meter and the pumps should run w/ key on.

These devices should also get power

RarlyL8 is right,

you should trace the wiring harness and see where the break is. It's usually in the engine harness on top of the motor. There is a junction somewhere under all the heatshrink and electrical tape in the engine wiring harness where multiple wires are connected together. Ive seen one other 1980 930 where the connection had failed and caused your same problem. Good luck hunting it down if it's in there. I would obtain the wiring diagram and verify the break by checking at the next connection. I think it goes through the 14 pin plug on the rear fuse box. You can unplug it there and check for power on the car side, w/fuel pumps running, if it's there but not at the devices themselves, well you know where to start looking.

You don't want it powered up if your engine isn't running as you could sit with your switch on, engine off and change your control pressure from the cold to warm setting which could cause starting issues under the right(or wrong) circumstances. At least that's why Porsche wired it that way...
