Ran der '87 930 today @ EPL's dyno, why not

Had an invite to hit the rollers this a.m., figured WTF why not give it a whirl - felt GOOD to confirm AFR's and the like really.

Stock '87 mit 40k miles, 'cept for gutted cat, GReddy Profec B Spec II MBC set to 0.8bar, and spring centered clutch. Sea level, maybe 60F, Mustang dyno.

All in all I'm giddy at the curves - AFR's were so spot on Tony didn't even want to bother tinkering with anything, let alone pulling a 3rd pull - sweet! I basically called the whp dead nuts (I predicted 250whp, and was 249 before "smoothing), while torque on the other hand was waaaaay beyond expectation (even moreso before smoothing).

Interesting how the gutted cat didn't net me much hp beyond Porsche's claimed bhp, but torque was way up. Again, I'm just loving the curves! Anywho...

Enjoy!

Excelent curves. Looks like a perfectly healthy 930. Where did power peak? I have trouble reading it but it seems that you got peak power at 5200 RPM. It's a nice heads-up for people that rev their 930's to 7000 RPM beacuse "that's how it's ment to be driven" ;)

Nice! A tad leaner and you'll have another 20 hp/30 lb tq down low -

An RPM triggered solenoid to delay the boost to the WUR would help eliminate the rich mid range too, help with power and economy

Interesting Craig / JBL - thanks for the insight, appreciated!

Craig - beware... should you show up next Sat. night (hopefully?), I may be putting you to work on this 8-).

Thanks Goran, agreed. Yes, peak was 5,200. I typically don't wind it out much past 5,800, usually 5,500-5,600 depending on the gear and situation. Only reason to rev higher is to land the tach back into the meat of the curve - about 3,300.

Ah didn't realize you were close to Stratford. Appreciate the dyno offer, dunno if I'll need one again anytime soon but that's way cool of you. Tho... if I do decide to tinker with leaning my mixture slightly as yous suggested then, hmmm 8-).

We'll kick it around when you come up next Sat heh heh - it's next Sat. 4/26 - remember, Vegas time here (we'll be here). Hope you'll join us. Could be any of ///M5, 500E, C36, C43, //S6, //S8, //S5, Cosworth Escort, 930, 997GT3RS, 996tt - I have a ton of gamer friends heh heh. Spring is here and most have cabin fever so likely will be huge turnout.

Be great to meet. I emailed you thru the site here, dunno if yous got it. Hit me up @ s8editor@s-cars.org for further detail.
