A little CV help, please ('79 930)

Hey guys,

Trying to finish up an unexpected CV joint clean/repack + replacement of boots. Got the Loebro boots (part # 901-332-293-12) and was just about to put it all back together. Is the transmission side boot normally different than the outer? The reason I ask is that my replacement boot does not fit over the lip of the flange at the transmission side to be clamped (as parts diagrams indicate). Is it normally only the small end of the boot that is clamped? My outer boot had two clamps.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. I've read all the posts that came up with the search, but none were for a 930.

Thanks,
Rob

All 930 boots are the same. I only clamp the bigger side and slide the smaller (inner)l side over the ridge on the rod/shaft/axle; both (inner and outer) are tight fits, you need to work them to get them over.
