Having a bastardized 911 turbo, this forum has proven to be an invaluable resource. I probably would never have gotten my car working right if it wasn't for the helpfulness and general good karma of this forum.

I still use the other forums, as there are lots of quite knowledgeable members there, and a ton of great info. Plus, all the old turbo stuff is archived there.

There have never been two more different cars from the same model family than a normal aspirated 911 and a 930.

They look, handle, drive and feel like different cars.

Also, they have completely different concerns. The single biggest concern on any turbo car is the turbo/fuel system. This concern doesn't even exist for a regular 911.

Different cars deserve different forums.

Im with ya Don! That would be very nice!

Unfortunately Don, Rennlist is the home for EFI 930 guys. You just have to become a paying sponsor to have a valued opinion that's all.

What is up with this? I would have thought that since Pelican was a sponser at Rennlist, and alot of rennlisters buy from Pelican....there would be a little more respect than you guys give. Hmmm? should I continue to buy from Pelican?

Yes. Yes you should. Why would you punish Wayne for the opinions expressed by non-employees on an internet BBS?

Elite??I don't know...a lil' off..certainly! The 930 forum is for all those folks who consider a car that scares the cr&% out of most people to be the most desireable car on earth. The 930 forum is a place where a loud car, that 's shooting flames, stinks of raw fuel, gives gobs of boost at the least opportune moment, is a handful to drive, has zero safety features to bail you out, are all considered GOOD things. It is a place where we take perfectly beautiful 930s and almost immediately start ripping things out to get every last bit of power and handling, despite the fact that we know we will dump 10s of thousands into the car and probably get back less than what the car would bring stock.

I have driven tons of new high end cars.... and my comment is always the same, "nice, but it didn't scare me". That is the timeless logic you get on the 930 board. We own the Porsche that without a doubt has the most unique "personality" of anything they have ever built and I think that attracts ...how should I put it..."unique personalities"

Right now, I went to the track for the 1st time last week so naturally, have 17" rims and track tires on order, made an offer on the trailer I borrowed to get to the track, told my mechanic to order me a cage, and am planning my engine re-do for the fall. That is exactly the measured, logical, "test the waters" approach this board has taught me.

I drove a 996TT last week
Fast car, nice to look at, comfortable, quiet- it was terrible
The thing never broke loose sideways, scared people, or knocked any fillings out of my teeth
Im happy in 930 world thanks

Wife has bugged me in the past to 'upgrade' to a new 911. One occasion, she even got me to the point of driving a new fully-loaded 911 off the lot.

It was fast.
It handled extremely well.
It had lots of gee wiz tehnology.
It was loads safer than my current ride.

But the factory forgot one option .....

It had no soul. I may just have well been in a Lexus or similar vehicle.

930 = P51 Mustang / 997TT = Lear Jet

One is faster, more comfortable, safer, seats several comfortably, has AC and all the gizmos, and one is...well... a freakin' P51 MUSTANG!!

My experience exactly, which is why i bought this.

Knarly, loud, and brutally fast... i love it.

The city i live in does not have a porsche presence, new or old, and consequently the guys that stop by the shop where we are tuning, are mostly ricers and old muscle are guys there for nitrous installs or some turbo tweaking. They all walk around the car, freaking at the big turbo hanging out in the breeze and gape as it spits flames on the dyno. The 930 has a charisma that just cant be matched by many other cars.

^^ Amen! My buddy just bought a black on black 2002 996 turbo with 22k miles on it...as far as he's concerned its the best of the best, a car that he feels safe to go fast in...

Then he saw the list on my project and now he's nervous that a 26 year old car will out gun him by a factor of 10

930's are where its at in any variation, 935, 934...there's just so much soul and personality.

Nice beast...I am pretty sure down the road I will sport those huge flare extenders as well. Is the sheet metal cut or are those just fastened on over the original flares?? Everyone thinks I am nuts but I also like the no rear valence look. I have a blank fiberglass valence in the garage that iiwas going to fit when I add the lightweight FG rear bumper, but I may just go "pantless"

juicersr your car looks like it should have been in some crazy '80's car movie. People must freak when they look at it. Sick car! I mean that in a good way.

OK, I see the cut metal, now I am about to receive 11.5 inch rims and 315-35-17 rims that require no spacer. What size spacer do you need to push the wheels out and fill those flares??
